Sysolution Y59 asynchronous LED controller

The Y59 is a control card with a quad-core Cortex-A35 processor at 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of LPDDR3 and 8 GB of eMMC memory, and a load capacity of up to 1,300,000 pixels. It has two gigabit Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi, RS485/RS232/TTL serial ports and a GPS/GNSS module, and can be supervised remotely through the AIPS 4.0 cloud platform.

The manufacturer recommends it specifically for smaller, mobile or pole-mounted applications (vehicle-mounted displays, traffic signs, lamp-post advertising, residential community information boards), with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +95°C, which allows stable operation in extreme outdoor conditions as well.

Where the Y59 sits in an LED wall system

A controller for smaller, mobile and pole-mounted displays: the signal goes over its two Ethernet ports on Cat5e/Cat6 to the receiving cards, and then over HUB75E to the modules, up to 1,300,000 pixels. What distinguishes it from the other cards is that it also has RS485, RS232 and TTL serial ports — through which traffic equipment, temperature or speed sensors, or a vehicle's on-board system can feed it data, a basic requirement on a traffic sign or a vehicle-mounted display. Content management is LedOK Express and LedOK Kit, fleet management is the AIPS 4.0 cloud, and positioning comes from the built-in GPS/GNSS.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

The wide temperature tolerance applies primarily to the control card; the heat tolerance of the LED modules and the power supplies has to be checked separately.

The Y59 in practice

Mounted on a vehicle, the power supply is the most delicate point: the 12/24 V on-board network collapses at start-up and spikes while driving, so without a regulated supply and proper fusing the card restarts at random — look for this as a power problem rather than a controller fault. The -40 to +95 °C range applies to the card; the heat tolerance of the LED modules and the power supplies has to be checked separately. On a moving display the 4G connection breaks up, so content has to be downloaded to the card in full and must not be planned around a live stream; the GPS data, on the other hand, is exactly what allows the playlist to change by location. Commissioning otherwise follows the usual course: AP mode, password change, network, time zone, brightness schedule, and finally AIPS registration. Without a network the downloaded programme carries on undisturbed.

Alternatives to the Y59

On a static, site-based display the Y50 gives the same capacity without the serial ports, for less; in a ready-made boxed format the M60B, and for a smaller wall the M50B-D. In other ecosystems the NovaStar Taurus T60 or the Huidu HD-C16L is its counterpart, but neither matches it for the abundance of serial ports. If the job is specifically a traffic sign or a lamp-post network with MQTT-based IoT integration, the Onbon BX-Y08A is the more targeted device, only with a considerably smaller load capacity of 131,072 pixels. The deciding factors: whether the display moves, whether sensor data is needed, and how large the surface is.
