Sysolution M50B-D asynchronous LED controller

The M50B-D is the lower-capacity member of the M series: over a single Ethernet port it can serve up to 650,000 pixels (max. 7680×1920), running Android 9.0 with 8 GB of eMMC and 1 GB of LPDDR3 memory. It also supports Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), USB 2.0 and an optional 4G module, and handles the most common video and image formats (MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV, JPG, GIF, PNG) natively.

The unit is built for an operating temperature range of -30°C to +75°C, which promises stable operation on outdoor installations in extreme climates as well. Content management is handled with the LedOK Express PC software and the manufacturer's cloud platform, and a USB camera can also be connected to it.

A single Ethernet port is the output, carrying the signal over Cat5e/Cat6 to the receiving cards and then over HUB75E to the modules; the 650,000 pixel load capacity is exactly one gigabit port's worth, typically 2–5 receiving cards. The source is the 8 GB eMMC, onto which content can be uploaded from the LedOK Express PC software, the LedOK Kit mobile app, USB, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or an optional 4G module; remote supervision runs on the manufacturer's AIPS platform. It handles the most common video and image formats (MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV, JPG, GIF, PNG) natively, so in most cases no prior transcoding is needed, only cropping to size.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

On smaller outdoor displays with a single Ethernet output, where a wide operating temperature range matters.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

It has only one Ethernet port, so on larger walls with several sending cards a different choice (M60B, M70/M80) is the better one.

The M50B-D in practice

The commissioning order: AP-mode Wi-Fi connection, password change, network and time zone setup, then the brightness profile and loading the screen parameters. This card's main argument is its -30 to +75 °C operating range, but that applies to the controller only: the heat tolerance of the LED modules, the power supplies and especially the electrolytic capacitors has to be checked separately, or the power supply will shut down in summer behind a cold-tolerant controller. In an outdoor enclosure, condensation and a lack of ventilation are the other recurring faults. With a single Ethernet port there is no network redundancy: if the cable is damaged, the wall cannot be updated. If the internet drops, the downloaded programme carries on and only cloud updates and status reporting stop; on replacement the programme and the settings are lost, while the receiving cards' configuration remains.

Alternatives to the M50B-D

For a larger wall or network redundancy, the M60B is the next step up (two Ethernet ports, 1,300,000 px). If the controller has to be built into your own enclosure, the Y50 gives the same in a card format, with region-specific 4G variants; for vehicles and lamp posts the Y59 is the more targeted model. In other ecosystems the NovaStar Taurus TB30 and the Huidu HD-A3L are its direct counterparts, in the same class of around 650,000 pixels. The deciding factors: whether a second Ethernet port is needed, how extreme the climate is, and which manufacturer's software environment the installer already uses.
