Huidu HD-WF2 asynchronous LED controller
The HD-WF2 is the Wi-Fi member of Huidu's single-colour card family, with two HUB75E ports, made for lintel signs above shop doors, shop window boards and vehicle-mounted displays. The programme is updated over Wi-Fi or from a USB drive, with a built-in antenna, so the wireless connection is available without any separate installation work.
Using the HD2020 software and the LedArt mobile app, text, scrolling messages, GIF animation and timed programmes can be set up, with up to 20 content areas freely arranged within one display. This category (WF1/WF2/WF4) is the smallest and cheapest asynchronous solution in Huidu's range, aimed primarily at small shops and stands.
Where the HD-WF2 sits in an LED wall system
The shortest signal path in the knowledge base: the card's two HUB75E ports go straight to the modules' ribbon cables, with no sending card, no receiving card and no Cat5e in the chain. The source is the 8 MB of built-in flash, of which about 4.5 MB is usable — enough for text, a clock and simple GIF animation, but not for video. Content arrives over Wi-Fi (with the built-in antenna) or from a USB drive, and editing is done with Huidu's HD2020 PC software and the LedArt mobile app. Up to 20 content areas can be placed freely within one display, each with its own content and timing.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
On single- or dual-colour message displays for small shops, stands and shop doors, where simple, inexpensive Wi-Fi updating is the aim.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
It can only display single- or dual-colour (not full-colour) content; full-colour video calls for the A or C series.
The HD-WF2 in practice
At commissioning the card opens its own Wi-Fi network, the phone connects to it, LedArt finds it, and from then on the text, colour, scrolling speed and on/off times can be set from the phone. Two sources of fault dominate on site: the HUB75E ribbon cable plugged in the wrong way round (nothing or noise appears — pin 1 of the cable has to be matched to the module's marking), and the supply voltage. The card expects DC 4.2–5.5 V, ideally 5 V; on a long, thin power lead the voltage drop can take it below 4.5 V, and the display then restarts at random or lights up dimly. No internet is needed here at all: the programme is in flash and the card keeps running without a network, with Wi-Fi required only for updates. On replacement the whole programme is lost, so it is worth keeping the HD2020 project file.
Alternatives to the HD-WF2
If full-colour pictures, photographs or video are also needed, this card is not suitable — the smallest step up instead is the HD-C16L (12 HUB75E, sender and receiver in one) or the HD-A3L. From other manufacturers the Onbon BX-6Q2 (full-colour lintel) and the Listen LS-T16 (single/dual-colour, with LAN/WAN cluster management) are its direct counterparts; the latter is better when many boards have to be managed centrally from one network. The deciding factor: whether text and animation are enough, or whether real image and video content is required.
