LEDMAN JS Series LED module and cabinet
LEDMAN's JS series is a COB LED cabinet intended specifically for indoor event technology (rental) use, in 0.7 mm and 1.2 mm pixel pitch versions. The manufacturer calls the product an 'ice screen', because the surface temperature during operation stays lower than human body temperature — thanks to the COB construction and, according to the manufacturer, to an energy draw around 50% lower than conventional solutions.
The cabinets connect with a quick-lock fixing system and are compatible with lifting beams and ground support brackets, which gives flexibility for fast rigging and de-rigging on tours and at events. The panels can be fitted together in any arrangement into a continuous 16:9 picture surface at 2K, 4K or even 8K resolution.
The manufacturer also highlights the high colour reproduction and the ultra-high contrast ratio, which are the characteristic advantages of COB technology over SMD solutions: because the LED chips sit bonded to the panel and covered with a protective layer rather than in separate packages, the surface is more uniform and the black levels deeper.
Where the JS Series sits in an LED wall system
The JS is a quick-lock rental cabinet, with fixings matching lifting beams and ground support brackets — the cabinet is a mechanical and electrical unit in one, containing modules, power supply and receiving card. The pixel density, however, is extreme: at P0.7 one square metre is around 2.04 million pixels, so one gigabit port carries no more than 0.32 m²; at P1.2 it is 0.69 million px/m², giving 0.94 m². A 10 m² P0.7 wall therefore calls for 32 gigabit ports — at that size a 10G trunk (Brompton Tessera SX40 + XD, or the fibre outputs of a NovaStar MX40 Pro) is required, not home-run Cat6.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
Recommended for indoor events and tours, where a very fine pixel pitch, low heat output and fast, modular assembly all matter.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The official product page gives no cabinet size, brightness, refresh rate, weight or exact power consumption (W) figure — these have to be requested directly from the manufacturer before purchase.
The JS Series in practice
The manufacturer highlights the low surface temperature, which is a practical advantage in rental work: less heat load on the set and on the performers, and quiet, fan-free operation. The COB surface, however, means module-level repair — an individual LED cannot be replaced, and in the event of a fault the module goes. At a sub-1 mm pitch the plane tolerance is 0.2–0.3 mm, which is the hardest part in a rental build: the beam's level and the hoist heights have to be set precisely. The manufacturer gives no cabinet size, brightness or refresh rate, so these have to be put in writing at the quotation stage — for camera use, the 3 840 Hz minimum and the bit depth on the sending side as well. Touring kit: 5% spare modules.
Alternatives to the JS Series
If a pixel pitch below 1 mm is not required, the ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2V2 (2.84 mm, per-panel calibration storage) or the INFiLED DBmk2 (from 1.5 mm) is far cheaper for the same purpose, in ports and cabinets alike. For a fixed indoor COB wall, the LianTronics VMQ or the Unilumin UMiniIII Pro is the option, not a rental cabinet. If the wall goes onto an outdoor stage, the Gloshine CB MAX or the outdoor version of the INFiLED ER.
