Esdlumen Pilot Pro Series LED module and cabinet

Esdlumen's Pilot Pro series is a fine-pitch LED cabinet family for event technology (rental) use, in five pixel pitch versions: 1.5 / 1.9 / 2.6 / 2.9 / 3.9 mm. The cabinet's base size is 500×500×73 mm, and the 1.9-3.9 mm versions are also available in 500×1000×73 mm, uniformly weighing 8 kg in the 500×500 mm build. Brightness ranges from 900 to 1500 nit, and the contrast ratio between 6000:1 and 8000:1.

The refresh rate is 3840 Hz or 7680 Hz depending on the model, which in rental use also makes it suitable for work in front of a camera (live broadcast). The colour temperature is adjustable between 2000 and 10000 K, which gives flexibility for content matched to different lighting environments.

The panels are IP30 rated, so they are suitable only for indoor, supervised event use. The manufacturer provides maintenance access from both front and rear.

Where the Pilot Pro Series sits in an LED wall system

The Pilot Pro's 500×500×73 mm (or 500×1 000) quick-lock cabinet holds modules, power supply and receiving card together; it opens from front and rear alike, so it can be built against a wall or in front of a free-standing frame. Port count: at P1.5, 320×320 = 102 400 pixels, so six cabinets (1.5 m²) run on one gigabit port; at P3.9, 128×128 = 16 384, giving 39 cabinets and 10 m². The 7 680 Hz version can also be used in front of a camera, but that requires 10–12-bit processing on the sending side — a VX1000 or MX40 Pro, not an MCTRL300.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

Recommended for indoor event technology (rental) use, where a quickly assembled display with a choice of pixel pitches, adjustable colour temperature and good contrast is needed.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Because of its IP30 rating it can only be used indoors, in a supervised environment; the official page gives no exact power consumption (W) figure, which is worth requesting directly.

The Pilot Pro Series in practice

The colour temperature adjustable from 2 000 to 10 000 K is not cosmetic: in rental work the wall's colour temperature has to be matched to the stage lighting and the camera's white balance, otherwise the background comes out bluish or yellowish on the recording — this has to be set at commissioning, in a measured state, not afterwards on the picture. When building, the two cabinet sizes can be mixed, but the port allocation has to be drawn out in advance. Plane tolerance is 0.3–0.5 mm. Module replacement is from the front or the rear, with a magnetic lifter; the calibration coefficients are on the receiving card, so a replaced module calls for re-measurement. Because of IP30, covered venues only. Touring kit: 5% spare modules, a spare power supply, and cabinets in dollies.

Alternatives to the Pilot Pro Series

A quiet, fanless indoor alternative is the Chipshow C-Rock Indoor, in a similar cabinet size. For deeper blacks and camera use, the INFiLED DBmk2, and for film or xR production the ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2V2 with its per-panel calibration storage. For an outdoor event, the Gloshine CB MAX or the outdoor version of the INFiLED ER. If the wall goes into a fixed installation and runs in one place for years, the ROE Visual Ruby or the Unilumin UpanelS is the right choice instead of a rental cabinet.
