Upad IV LED module and cabinet
The Upad IV is a member of Unilumin's rental (quick-lock, fast-rigging) LED cabinet series. Rental cabinets differ from fixed-installation cabinets in that they are not permanently built into one place but designed for frequent rigging and de-rigging from event to event: with a quick-lock fixing system, a light cast magnesium housing and a standardised panel size, so that they can be flexibly assembled and dismantled as scenic elements, on stages and on tour. Fixed-installation cabinets, by contrast, are typically heavier and more durable but require a more complex support structure, and in exchange are optimised for longer-term, stationary operation.
The Upad IV is available in three pixel pitch versions (1.5 / 1.9 / 2.6 mm), with a uniform cabinet size of 500×500×70.1 mm and a weight of 6.3 kg per panel. Brightness is 800 nit (the 1.5 and 1.9 mm versions) or 1200-1500 nit (the 2.6 mm version).
The cabinet can be curved from -5° (convex) to +10° (concave), which allows cone, cylinder or wave-shaped set forms to be built. Maintenance can be carried out from the front and from the rear alike.
Where the Upad IV sits in an LED wall system
The cabinet connects to its neighbour and to the lifting beam with quick locks, and contains the modules, the power supply and the receiving card; servicing works from the front and from the rear, so 40–50 cm behind the wall is enough where a rear route is available at all. A P1.5 cabinet is 320×320 = 102 400 pixels: six cabinets per gigabit port, that is 1.5 m² — a 30 m² P1.5 backdrop calls for 20 ports, which is already MX40 Pro or Colorlight X16 Pro territory. At P2.6, 17 cabinets run on one port and the same wall is covered with seven.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
For event technology, touring and exhibition use, where frequent rigging and de-rigging and curved, creative surface shaping are the aim.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The manufacturer's page gives no refresh rate, IP rating or exact power consumption figure — these are worth requesting directly before purchase.
The Upad IV in practice
On a rental wall the build starts with the top row hung under the beam, and the cabinets are threaded downwards from there — the quick locks pull the panels together, but the plane comes from the beam's level, so the hoists have to be set precisely; a step of more than 0.3–0.5 mm shows up on camera as a seam and as moiré. The -5°/+10° curving sits in fixed positions, and for a cylindrical set the radius has to be calculated in advance. Module replacement is from the front with a magnetic lifter, in under a minute, without tools; the calibration coefficients stay on the receiving card, so a replaced module stands out in colour until it is re-measured. Touring kit: 5% spare modules, a spare power supply and receiving card, and cabinets in dollies.
Alternatives to the Upad IV
If it also has to go outdoors, the Upad IV has no IP rating — the outdoor cabinet version of the INFiLED ER (IP65/54) or the Gloshine CB MAX is the option instead. If the wall runs in front of a camera and deep blacks are needed, the INFiLED DBmk2 or the ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2V2 is the step up. For curved, cylindrical sets, the INFiLED Xmk2's ±30°, seven-position curving allows more. On a tighter budget, the Esdlumen Pilot Pro and the Chipshow C-Rock Indoor deliver the same cabinet size.
