Leyard DirectLight LED Video Wall System LED module and cabinet
Leyard DirectLight is a directly wall-mountable LED video wall system available in 0.7, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8 and 2.5 mm pixel pitches. The display cabinets have a 27.1-inch diagonal, and with the Leyard EasyAlign mounting system they stand less than 4 inches (around 25.4 mm) proud of the wall plane, which also meets the US accessibility requirement.
With fine-pitch LED cabinets there is a fundamental difference between front and rear servicing. With rear-serviceable cabinets the technician has to reach the back of the cabinet from an empty corridor behind the wall — which requires free, walkable space behind the video wall, something many installations (a video wall mounted on an existing solid wall, for instance) simply do not have. DirectLight, by contrast, is specifically front-serviceable in design: the display and all the cabling are reachable from the front of the wall, and the system moves the power supplies out into a remote 19-inch rack cabinet, leaving only the slim display panel at the wall, with no source of heat or noise.
This solution matters a great deal at installation, because on a video wall mounted on a solid, free-standing or existing wall there is no way to create a rear service corridor after the fact — DirectLight was designed for such cases. The system also supports 90-degree corner joints, 10-degree forward tilt and curved, façade-like configurations.
Where the DirectLight LED Video Wall System sits in an LED wall system
DirectLight's distinctive feature is that the cabinet contains no power supply: that sits in the 19-inch rack, and the low-voltage power runs from there to the wall — in the plane of the wall only the 27.1-inch display panel remains, on an EasyAlign bracket, protruding less than 100 mm. This also rearranges the signal path: the sending controller, the row of power supplies and the cable management are in the rack, and nothing is at the wall. Port count: at P0.78, 768×432 = 331 776 pixels, so a single cabinet runs on one gigabit port; at P2.5, 240×135 = 32 400, giving 20 cabinets.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
Ideal for video wall installations on existing solid walls or otherwise inaccessible from the rear, where all servicing has to be possible from the front.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The power supplies have to be placed in a separate, well-ventilated rack room, with the power cabling routed to the rack, so this space requirement has to be built in at the design stage.

The price of moving the power supply into the rack is the cabling: the length of the low-voltage wiring between rack and wall is limited by voltage drop, so the rack room has to be planned close to the wall — a decision for the room layout, not for the installation. Levelling the EasyAlign bracket rows is the bulk of the work: at a 0.78 mm pitch even a 0.3 mm step is visible, so a laser level and a check in raking light are needed. Module replacement is from the front, with a suction cup, without tools, in under a minute; the calibration data stays on the receiving card, so a replaced module has to be re-measured. The sub-100 mm protrusion is only achieved if the plane of the bracket is accurate too. Spares: 2–3% modules.
Alternatives to the DirectLight LED Video Wall System
If there is a rear service corridor and the large, factory-aligned cabinet is advantageous, the Leyard TWA builds with fewer seams. If you do not want to move the power supply into a rack but still need front servicing, the standalone cabinet of the Unilumin UpanelS or the LianTronics VMQ calls for simpler infrastructure. The COB-surfaced alternative is the Unilumin UMiniIII Pro, and below 1 mm the Absen KLCOB V2. For events and moving around, this system is not suitable.
