INFiLED ER Series (VuePix) LED module and cabinet
The INFiLED ER Series is an LED panel family designed for the touring and rental market, in 2.97 mm, 3.47 mm, 3.91 mm, 4.63 mm, 4.81 mm, 5.95 mm and 6.94 mm pixel pitch versions. The cabinet measures 500×1000 mm, is 68 mm deep, and weighs 12.5-15.5 kg. Magnets, locating pins and quick-lock fixing are included for fast assembly.
The series illustrates the fundamental difference between indoor and outdoor fine-pitch cabinets well. The indoor cabinet is IP30 rated: it is not sealed against rain or dust, and in exchange it is lighter and thinner, with a brightness typically up to 1200 nit, which is enough for a closed room with controlled lighting. The outdoor cabinet version, by contrast, has IP65 front and IP54 rear protection — that is, the LED modules and the electronics are completely sealed against dust and splashing water from the front and protected against dust from the rear — and its brightness can also rise above 5000 nit so that the picture stays readable in direct sunlight.
This difference is critical at installation, because an indoor (IP30) cabinet mounted outdoors can be damaged by moisture and dust within a short time, while an outdoor (IP65/IP54) cabinet is needlessly heavier and more expensive for a purely indoor installation in a protected space.
Where the ER Series sits in an LED wall system
The ER's 500×1 000 mm cabinet assembles with quick locks, locating pins and magnets, hung under a beam or built from the ground; because of its 12.5–15.5 kg weight, lifting a row is a two-person job. Because of the coarser pixel pitch the port count is not a bottleneck: the P6.94 cabinet is 72×144 = 10 368 pixels, so 62 cabinets (31 m²) run on one gigabit port; at P2.97 it is 168×336 = 56 448, giving 11 cabinets and 5.5 m². A 100 m² P6.94 festival wall therefore fits on four ports and 2.1 million pixels — a NovaStar VX400 can carry that.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
Recommended for tours, events and mobile outdoor/indoor installations, where fast assembly matters and an outdoor, weatherproof cabinet version can be chosen if needed.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
When ordering, it has to be stated unambiguously whether an indoor (IP30) or an outdoor (IP65/IP54) cabinet version is needed — the two are not interchangeable, and an indoor panel cannot be made weatherproof afterwards.
The ER Series in practice
The indoor and outdoor cabinet versions are mechanically identical, so they are easy to mix up in the warehouse — which is which has to be marked in the inventory and on the dollies, because an IP30 panel is ruined by a single rainy festival. On an outdoor build the connectors also have to be protected: the cabinet is IP65 at the front, but the exposed etherCON and power connector are not. During installation, plane tolerance is 0.5 mm; at this pixel pitch that is easy to hold. Module replacement works from the front and from the rear alike; the calibration coefficients stay on the receiving card, so a replaced module has to be re-measured. Touring kit: 5% spare modules, a spare power supply, and for an outdoor build a cover sheet for the de-rig.
Alternatives to the ER Series
If a finer picture is needed for close viewing (a conference, a studio), the INFiLED DBmk2 starts at 1.5 mm, but only with indoor IP30. For a curved surface, the Xmk2. For outdoor rental, the Gloshine CB MAX with a 1 000×1 000 cabinet and IP65 front protection is a similar category, as is the Absen PL V3, which goes to 5 000 nit. If the wall is going permanently onto a façade, it is not this but the Absen AW Series or the Unilumin Usurface III Pro that belongs there.
