INFiLED DBmk2 Series LED module and cabinet
The INFiLED DBmk2 Series is a high-contrast, ultra-black LED panel family available in 1.5 mm, 1.9 mm, 1.95 mm and 2.6 mm pixel pitch versions. The standard cabinet size is 500×500 mm, weighing 7.8-8.4 kg; the narrower 250×500 mm cabinets weigh around 8 kg.
Brightness falls between 1000 and 2000 nit depending on the version. The refresh rate can be chosen between 3840 Hz and 7680 Hz depending on the model's performance. The finer pixel pitch models use IMD MT2 LED technology, while other versions use conventional 3-in-1 SMD LEDs.
Power draw varies by model: peak consumption is 120-180 W per panel, and average consumption falls in the 40-60 W per panel range.
Where the DBmk2 Series sits in an LED wall system
The DBmk2's 500×500 mm (or 250×500) cabinet uses a quick-lock system and opens from front and rear alike, containing modules, power supply and receiving card. Port count: at P2.6, 192×192 = 36 864 pixels, so 17 cabinets (4.4 m²) run on one gigabit port; at P1.5, 320×320 = 102 400, giving six cabinets and 1.5 m². A 40 m² P1.5 studio wall is 160 cabinets and 27 ports — on a system of that size the 10G outputs of a Brompton Tessera SX40 or the fibre ports of a NovaStar MX40 Pro are the realistic option, because 27 gigabit home-run cables are unmanageable.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
Worth choosing on rental or fixed-installation indoor projects where a deep black level and high contrast are of particular importance, such as studio or exhibition installations.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The family contains many sub-versions whose brightness and power consumption differ significantly, so it is worth requesting the datasheet for the specific model from the manufacturer for each project.
The DBmk2 Series in practice
The family's many sub-versions come in the same cabinet size but with different LED technology (IMD MT2 or 3-in-1 SMD) and brightness — within a project only the same sub-version may be mixed, because the colour point and brightness differ and this cannot be entirely covered up with calibration. When ordering, therefore, it is the specific model code that matters, not the series. During installation, plane tolerance is 0.3–0.5 mm; the narrow 250×500 cabinets make it possible to build a wall width that is not on a 500 grid. Module replacement is magnetic from the front and screwed from the rear; the calibration data sits on the receiving card, so a replaced module calls for re-measurement. Because of IP30, indoor only. Spares: 5% modules for rental use, 2–3% for fixed installation.
Alternatives to the DBmk2 Series
If it also has to go outdoors, the same manufacturer's ER Series outdoor cabinet version (IP65 at the front / IP54 at the rear) is the counterpart. For a curved set, the INFiLED Xmk2's ±30°, seven-position curving is the option. For in-front-of-camera film and xR use, the ROE Visual Black Pearl BP2V2's per-panel calibration storage is more advantageous. On a tighter budget, the Esdlumen Pilot Pro and the Chipshow C-Rock Indoor cover a similar pitch range in the same cabinet size.
