In short

A more modern, more visual configuration software than NovaLCT, for complex, custom-shaped or large LED walls.

SmartLCT LED wall software

SmartLCT is NovaStar's new-generation screen configuration software: instead of the traditional, table-based NovaLCT interface, the cabinet layout can be assembled graphically, by drag and drop, which significantly speeds up commissioning on walls with complex geometry (curved, rotated, irregularly shaped). It also supports offline design — the layout of the wall can be prepared in advance, without being on site.

It is typically used on larger systems with several sending cards and on creative (not simply rectangular) displays, alongside or instead of classic NovaLCT.

Where the SmartLCT sits in an LED wall system

SmartLCT handles the same physical signal path as NovaLCT — laptop, sending card (MCTRL, VX, K series), Cat6, receiving card, HUB card, module — only with a different interface. The cabinets can be dragged onto a virtual canvas, rotated and fitted together, and the program calculates the port allocation from that. The cabinet file (.rcfgx) and the calibration data go to the same place, into the memory of the receiving cards, so the result on the hardware side is identical. Several sending cards can be chained into a single logical screen, which is the main advantage on walls with many cabinets.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

On large LED walls using many sending cards, or on irregular/creative shapes, where designing the cabinet layout graphically and offline saves time on the on-site work.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

SmartLCT and NovaLCT offer partly overlapping functions — on the same project it is worth settling which software the installation team works with, because calibration data cannot always be carried across between the two without trouble.

The SmartLCT in practice

The typical workflow: create the project, add the cabinet type from the manufacturer's .rcfgx, assemble the wall graphically, assign the sending cards and ports, and finally write to the hardware. The layout can be prepared offline, before going to site, and on site it only has to be mapped onto the real hardware — this is the biggest time saving on curved or stepped walls. One pitfall is that SmartLCT and NovaLCT write partly the same registers: if both are used on a project, whichever program is run later may overwrite the other's settings, and the calibration data cannot always be carried across. The latest known release is from 2023, so it updates more slowly than VMP. There is no Hungarian interface; the menu is English or Chinese.

Alternatives to the SmartLCT

On a simple rectangular wall NovaLCT is faster, because the graphical designer is not needed. On a COEX processor system, VMP is the only good answer. On Colorlight hardware the similar graphical layout is provided by LEDSETTING, and on a Brompton processor by Tessera's own interface. If the task is not the layout but improving brightness and colour uniformity, NovaCLB is the right tool, together with a calibration camera.

On its own the SmartLCT is a component. With us it works inside these displays — design, manufacturing and installation included.
