Megapixel HELIOS LED wall software
HELIOS is a complete processing platform (hardware plus its control software/interface), which the manufacturer describes as offering an up-to-8K video pipeline and a panorama output scalable to 32K, with 8×10G fibre outputs in a single rack unit. The system is designed so that several users can operate the platform in real time without dedicated control software, and it also offers an extensible API for custom integrations.
Megapixel is mainly active in the virtual production (XR studios, in-camera VFX) and large-scale live event technology markets; with LightScience colour technology and camera-friendly NanoSync synchronisation, HELIOS is specifically optimised for in-front-of-camera (broadcast/film) use as well, which distinguishes it from the more conventional display-focused NovaStar/Colorlight/Brompton platforms.
Where the HELIOS sits in an LED wall system
As a 1RU processor, HELIOS goes between the media server (disguise, PIXERA, WATCHOUT or a game engine render node) and the wall: on the input side it takes the signal on modular cards, and on the output it distributes to the panels over 8 ten-gigabit optical ports, with — according to the manufacturer — an 8K processing chain and a panorama scalable to 32K. Control is done from a browser, on the processor's built-in web interface, with several users at once if needed, so there is no separate control program to install. Network distribution is complemented by the manufacturer's own RS12 switch.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
At high-resolution virtual production (XR/in-camera VFX) studios and on flagship live event technology projects, where camera synchronisation and colour accuracy are critical considerations.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
HELIOS is a closed, hardware-tied platform — it cannot be downloaded as standalone licensable software, and the detailed calibration documentation (Omnical, for instance) is only available to registered customers through the support portal.
The HELIOS in practice
Because the interface is reached from a browser, on-site work stands or falls on network access: the processor and the operating laptop have to end up in the same network segment, which in studio VLANs calls for separate discussion with IT operations. On walls in front of a camera, NanoSync synchronises the panel refresh to the camera shutter, while Omnical, a calibration procedure based on camera measurement, evens out panel-to-panel variation — the documentation for the latter is only available to registered customers on the support portal, which makes the first commissioning harder if the team has no manufacturer account. The extensible API allows custom integration with a show controller or a media server. There is no Hungarian interface or support.
Alternatives to the HELIOS
In the same category Brompton Tessera is the main alternative; the choice is usually decided by the receiving card that can be fitted in the panel and by the studio's existing equipment, not by a feature list. If the wall is not going in front of a camera — an advertising sign, a control room, a conference room — HELIOS is heavily oversized: NovaStar's COEX line (MX40 Pro and VMP) or Colorlight's processors give enough processing for an order of magnitude less. On the content side HELIOS is not a player, so a media server is needed alongside it.

On its own the Megapixel HELIOS is a component. With us it works inside these displays — design, manufacturing and installation included.
