ViPlex Express LED wall software

ViPlex Express is a Windows desktop program used to upload content (images, video, text, live data feeds) to NovaStar's networked Taurus-series media players, and to assemble and schedule playback programmes. It offers two operating modes: the simpler Async mode for basic playback, and Studio mode for more complex, layered layouts.

It is effectively NovaStar's own small-to-medium asynchronous digital signage solution — filling a similar role to Huidu HDPlayer or Colorlight PlayerMaster in their own ecosystems. For larger, distributed networks NovaStar recommends the cloud-based VNNOX platform instead.

Where the ViPlex Express sits in an LED wall system

ViPlex Express sits on the content side of the signal path, ahead of the Taurus terminal: the Windows machine uploads the media over LAN, Wi-Fi or the terminal's own access point to the player's internal storage, and from then on the wall keeps running even when disconnected from the machine. It does not touch the panel's physical parameters (cabinet file, tiling, calibration); those are set by the multimedia version of NovaLCT. The two operating modes assume different signal paths: in Async mode the content goes to the terminal's storage and plays back from there, whereas in Studio mode the PC itself plays out live through the sending card, which makes it a synchronous system.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

On small-to-medium NovaStar Taurus systems that play content independently (without a continuous video signal), where content upload and scheduling have to be handled from a desktop machine.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

It is only compatible with Taurus-series players; if the system uses a different NovaStar controller, the multimedia version of NovaLCT or VNNOX may be the right tool.

The ViPlex Express in practice

The order is: find the terminal in the Terminals list, log in (the factory password is 123456 according to the manual, and should be changed), assemble the playback programme on the Solutions interface, assign it to the terminal, upload, and finally schedule. One pitfall is that the upload happens over the network: with a large video file over Wi-Fi it can take minutes, and if it breaks off it has to be started again — for on-site work it is worth using a wired connection. The other common mistake is content sized differently from the native resolution: the Taurus rescales it, but at the LED wall's low pixel count this causes visible blurring and unreadable captions. There is no Hungarian interface; the program is English and Chinese.

Alternatives to the ViPlex Express

For on-site intervention on one or two displays, the ViPlex Handy mobile app is more convenient, with no laptop needed. On a network with several sites managed remotely, VNNOX takes over the role. If the hardware is not NovaStar, the equivalents are Huidu HDPlayer or Colorlight PlayerMaster. If, on the other hand, a manufacturer-independent, template-driven signage system with integrations, many displays and permission management is needed, then this is not the category: Xibo, Yodeck or OptiSigns is the answer there.
