In short

The main Windows software for Huidu's asynchronous LED controllers: programme editing, brightness/playback mode settings, firmware update.

Huidu HDPlayer LED wall software

HDPlayer is the core software for Huidu's asynchronous controller cards (those that play content independently): it is used to edit the playback programme (images, video, text, live clock/calendar widgets), set the brightness and the playback mode, and carry out firmware updates and system supervision. Huidu cards are one of the most widespread controller families in the price-sensitive segment of the market, so HDPlayer is particularly common on smaller commercial (advertising sign type) LED displays.

Alongside this program, Huidu offers a separate HDSet software for deeper hardware (sending/receiving card) configuration — together the two cover the complete commissioning process.

Where the HDPlayer sits in an LED wall system

HDPlayer stands on the content side: the Windows machine uploads the playback programme over a USB cable, over the LAN or through the card's own Wi-Fi access point to the internal storage of the Huidu asynchronous controller (HD-A60x, Ax0, Ax0+, Cx0, Dx0 series). The card is also a sender: from there the flat ribbon cable runs to the modules, and in a larger system the Cat6 to the receiving cards. The machine can then be disconnected and the display keeps playing on its own. The program builds a zoned programme from image, video, scrolling text, clock, date, temperature and counter widgets.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

On smaller Huidu-controlled displays that play content independently (an advertising sign in front of a shop, a smaller indoor wall), where content editing and scheduling have to be handled with a simple desktop program.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

There can also be a mismatch between the HDPlayer version number and the card's firmware — several parallel versions (V5.x, V7.x) are available on the manufacturer's download page, so it is worth choosing the version indicated in the documentation belonging to the card.

The HDPlayer in practice

The order is: add the display to the program with its real pixel size (192x96, for instance), lay out the zones, drag in the content, publish to the card, and finally set the brightness and timing. The most common mistake is mistyping the pixel size: if the size in the program does not match the physical wall, the text is cut off or stretched. The second is the card's limited performance not coping with the video — a high-bitrate file has to be converted down in advance, otherwise it stutters or does not start at all. Several parallel branches (V5.x, V7.x) run at the same time on the manufacturer's download page, and an older card only works with the older branch, so the version specified in the card's documentation has to be chosen. There is no Hungarian interface; the program is English and Chinese.

Alternatives to the HDPlayer

The card's hardware parameters — sending and receiving card setup, point correction — need HDSet, not this. If the display has to receive a live video signal, Huidu's asynchronous line is not enough: a NovaStar or Colorlight processor is the solution there. On a larger, scheduled, multi-site network, HDPlayer's local, manual workflow is the bottleneck — there the NovaStar ViPlex and VNNOX pair, or a hardware-independent signage system (Xibo, Yodeck), gives central supervision.
