NovaStar VX600 LED wall controller
The VX600 is the mid-range all-in-one controller of NovaStar's VX series: a single unit combining the video processor and the LED sending card, with more video inputs and greater processing capacity than the entry-level VX400. The official manual (V1.4.0) is updated regularly, which indicates continued manufacturer support for the device.
Its typical field of use is event work (concerts, conferences) and medium-sized fixed installations, where fast switching between several sources and a simple operating interface are required.
Where the VX600 sits in an LED wall system
Six gigabit ports and two optical, 3.9 million pixels, with an output geometry extending to 10,240 × 8192 pixels. The same three operating modes as elsewhere in the series (Video Controller, Fiber Converter, Bypass), and the same closed ecosystem: it only drives NovaStar receiving cards. On-site operation runs from the front-panel buttons and rotary knob, with detailed screen configuration from NovaLCT or V-Can. Two PIP layers can be displayed alongside one main layer.

In event rental and on medium-sized fixed installations, where fast switching between several video sources is an important consideration.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
On a large display of several million pixels it is worth comparing the capacity against the VX1000 or the larger MX/CX series.
The VX600 in practice
The same rule applies to port allocation as on the sibling models: a decreasing cabinet count per port, a whole multiple of the cabinet rows or columns, and no more than 650,000 pixels on port 1. At an event, saving presets is the most important part of the workflow: the entire layer and source allocation can be saved, recalled, copied and renamed, so after a rehearsal one button restores the picture. It is a documented limitation that the VX600 is only reachable from third-party control systems (Q-SYS, for instance) through a community, reverse-engineered plug-in, with no official factory support — preset recall and brightness adjustment work, but there is no feedback on whether a command succeeded.
Alternatives to the VX600
If the wall grows beyond 3.9 million pixels, the VX1000 (6.5 million, 10 ports) is the next step up, not several VX600s side by side. For 12-bit processing and 20 ports, the MX40 Pro; for touchscreen on-site operation, the CX40 Pro. If no image processing at all is needed, an MCTRL660 Pro is cheaper. For camera work, the Brompton Tessera SX40.
