In short

The high-performance, all-in-one flagship of NovaStar's VX series.

NovaStar VX1000 LED wall controller

The VX1000 is the upper-tier all-in-one controller of NovaStar's VX series: a single unit combining video processing with the LED sending card function, with a high pixel capacity and more video inputs than the VX400/VX600. It delivers enough performance even on larger, more complex LED wall projects without the need for a separate video processor.

The official manual (V1.2.1) runs to 6.5 MB and covers the hardware connections, the port allocation and how it works with the NovaLCT and VMP software.

Ten gigabit ports and two optical, 6.5 million pixels; the output can be up to 10,240 pixels wide and 8192 pixels high, which also makes it good for ultra-wide ribbon walls. It processes the input signal up to 4K×1K @ 60 Hz. Three operating modes (Video Controller, Fiber Converter, Bypass), NovaLCT and V-Can supervision, NovaStar A-series cards on the receiving side. The 3D function requires the EMT200 transmitter and active glasses, a separate item in the system design.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

On a larger permanent installation handling several video sources, or in premium event rental, where a compact all-in-one solution is an advantage.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Because of the high pixel capacity, it is worth planning the cooling and the power supply at the installation site in advance.

The VX1000 in practice

With ten ports the allocation rule is even more delicate: the cabinet count on port 1 ≥ port 2 ≥ … ≥ port 10, each a whole multiple of the cabinet rows or columns, and no more than 650,000 pixels on port 1. In practice this means the geometry of the wall has to be matched to the port count, not the other way round. One main and two PIP layers can be handled. When integrating it into a control system, allow for the fact that there is no factory module for the VX1000 in stage control systems: the community Q-SYS plug-in carries preset recall and brightness reliably, but gives no feedback, because the developer has no access to a real unit for testing the protocol.

Alternatives to the VX1000

Above 6.5 million pixels the answer is not a VX but an MX40 Pro (20 ports, 9 million pixels, 12-bit) or an H-series splicer. If fewer ports will do, the VX600 gives the same operating interface for less. If there is no permanent playback PC, the direction is asynchronous: a Taurus TB60. In front of a camera, a Brompton Tessera SX40 or a Megapixel VR HELIOS.

VX1000: what users report

A concise summary of experiences published in public professional forums and communities. Not our opinion, and not a quotation — the source is always available.

Users are asking for an official control module for the VX1000 and V1260 models, which indicates that these frequently used compact controllers have no ready-made factory integration into stage control systems, only community, reverse-engineered solutions.

A Q-SYS integrator reports that the VX1000 (and the unofficially supported VX400/VX600) handles preset recall and brightness adjustment reliably, but gives no feedback on whether the commands succeeded, because the developer has no access to real Novastar units for testing the protocol.
