Colorlight iSet LED wall software
iSet is a configuration software made for a separate product line — Colorlight's C- and A-series control systems — and it exists in parallel with LEDSETTING. The newer versions (V7.x) offer extended processor support (VX20, X2m, S4F, X4m, VX6, VX10, S20 Pro) and extra functions (DNS setting, 3DLink, zero frame latency).
Because several parallel software families run across Colorlight's product range (LEDSETTING, iSet, PlayerMaster), choosing the right program always means taking the specific controller type into account — in practice this is the most common source of error on Colorlight systems.
Where the iSet sits in an LED wall system
iSet is the setup program for Colorlight's video processors and C/A-series controller cards: the laptop connects to the processor (VX20, VX6, VX10, X2m, X4m, S4F, S20 Pro) over Ethernet or USB, and the processor drives the receiving cards in the cabinets over Cat6 or fibre. The input source, the screen layout, the output port allocation, DNS-based network access, 3DLink and zero frame latency mode are all set here. This program also writes the receiving cards' parameter file and stores it on the card.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
On systems fitted with Colorlight C- or A-series controller cards, where the hardware is specifically iSet-compatible (not LEDSETTING-based).
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
iSet and LEDSETTING are not interchangeable — which software recognises the device depends on the type of controller card, so before purchase it is worth checking with the manufacturer or the reseller which software family the card in question belongs to.
The iSet in practice
iSet is one of the few manufacturer configuration programs that runs under macOS and Linux as well as Windows — a real advantage with a mixed fleet of machines, as NovaLCT, for instance, only runs on Windows. The workflow: recognise the processor on the network, load and write the cabinet parameters, build the screen, set the source and scaling, and finally save. Zero frame latency mode matters at a live camera event, because the processor's transit time adds to the other delays in the picture chain, and the stage screen then drifts away from reality. The most common mistake here too is picking the wrong software family: if LEDSETTING does not see the card, many people take the card to be faulty when iSet would recognise it. There is no Hungarian interface.
Alternatives to the iSet
A Colorlight sending and receiving card system needs LEDSETTING, and an asynchronous player needs PlayerMaster. Before buying, it is worth getting the reseller to state in writing which software family the card belongs to — after the fact this is the most expensive mistake. In other ecosystems the functional equivalent is NovaStar VMP (for COEX processors) or Brompton Tessera's own interface. If work has to be done on macOS, on the NovaStar side VMP and SmartLCT run on a Mac, but NovaLCT does not.
