Colorlight LEDSETTING LED wall software
LEDSETTING is used to set up Colorlight's sending and receiving cards and processors: device detection, tiling layout, brightness/gamma setting, temperature-based dynamic calibration (Thermal Dynamic Calibration) and configuring redundant systems. The software grew out of the earlier LEDVISION interface, with a new user interface and extended processor support (the U6 Max and U15 Max, for instance).
On Colorlight-based systems this is the primary, everyday configuration tool — filling a similar role to the NovaLCT/SmartLCT pair in the NovaStar ecosystem.
Where the LEDSETTING sits in an LED wall system
LEDSETTING fills the same role on the Colorlight side as NovaLCT does at NovaStar: the laptop connects to the Colorlight sending card or processor over USB or Ethernet, and from there reaches the receiving cards (5A, i5A, S2 and their relatives) over the Cat6 data cable running to the cabinets. The video signal arrives on a separate path, on the processor's HDMI/DVI/SDI input. The program writes the receiving cards' parameter file, the tiling layout, the brightness and gamma curve, the refresh rate and the settings for redundant, looped cabling.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
For commissioning and maintaining Colorlight-controlled LED walls, this is the default configuration software, used daily.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The manufacturer officially marks LEDVISION (its predecessor) as "Discontinued" on the download page — on a new project always use LEDSETTING, rather than digging out the old LEDVISION installer on the strength of old guides.
The LEDSETTING in practice
The order is: device detection, load the parameter file belonging to the cabinet and write it to the receiving cards, save to the card, screen layout (how many cabinets per port, in which direction), and finally brightness, gamma and refresh rate. Thermal Dynamic Calibration corrects the colour shift caused by the modules' changing temperature during operation, which makes a visible difference outdoors in strong sunlight. The biggest practical pitfall on the Colorlight side is not operating the program but choosing it: LEDSETTING, iSet and PlayerMaster belong to different hardware families, and if the wrong one is chosen the program simply does not see the card — which technicians often take for a hardware fault. There is no Hungarian interface; the menu is English or Chinese.
Alternatives to the LEDSETTING
For C- and A-series Colorlight controllers iSet is the right program, and for asynchronous players (A100, A200, C6 Pro) PlayerMaster — the same manufacturer, three separate software families. The withdrawn LEDVISION is not worth reaching for on a new project. LEDSETTING does not work on another manufacturer's card: NovaStar hardware needs NovaLCT or SmartLCT, Linsn needs LEDStudio or LEDSet, Huidu needs HDSet. The decision is always made by the type of the fitted receiving card.
