Brompton Tessera T1 LED wall processor
Brompton recommends the Tessera T1 specifically for smaller creative shows that do not need a large pixel count. The processor has a single DVI-D input and a single 1 Gigabit Tessera output, nominally handling 525,000 pixels at 8-bit colour depth and 60 Hz, up to a resolution of 1920×1080.
The T1's strength is flexible front-end processing: the picture can be scaled, cropped and colour corrected, while the Tessera system supports freely positioned and rotatable (0°/90°/180°/270°) fixture mapping, along with handling several "sub-fixtures" (LED strips, small tiles) from a single receiving card at once. Built-in DMX/eDMX (Art-Net) control is also available.
Brompton's current datasheet marks the product explicitly as a "LEGACY UNIT", which indicates that although it is still available and supported, over the longer term the manufacturer is putting other models (the S4 and S8, for instance) to the fore.
Where the Tessera T1 sits in an LED wall system
The T1 is the smallest member of the chain: a DVI-D input, a single 1G Tessera output, and no genlock input — it synchronises to the source. That makes it a creative installation device rather than a studio one: LED strips, small tiles, surfaces built into scenery. One port takes 525,000 pixels, which is about 2 m² of wall with a P3.9 panel and 3.6 m² with a P2.6. Because of the built-in DMX/eDMX (Art-Net) control it can also be driven from a lighting desk — the wall then behaves as a lighting fixture rather than a video surface, and that difference decides whether this is the right device at all.

Smaller creative installations, LED strips and tiles, where a single output port is enough but flexible fixture rotation and DMX control matter.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The manufacturer marks the product as a "Legacy Unit" on the current datasheet, which is worth weighing up in long-term planning; it has no SDI input, only DVI-D.
The Tessera T1 in practice
The T1's strength is fixture mapping: several sub-fixtures (strips, tiles) can be addressed from one receiving card, with 0/90/180/270 degree rotation — this has to be built up in the Tessera Management Software, following the physical mounting order exactly, or the DMX address sent from the desk will move a different element. In the absence of genlock, the source's refresh rate has to be kept stable; the T1 is not suitable for live camera coverage, because there is no way to align it to the shutter. The 3-frame latency (2 in low-latency mode) does not matter on a small installation, but it is a lot for IMAG. The manufacturer's current datasheet marks it `LEGACY UNIT`, so when expanding a rental fleet it is worth settling the support horizon in writing.
Alternatives to the Tessera T1
Upwards in capacity, the Tessera M2 (four ports, 2.1 million pixels, SDI input and deinterlacing) or the S8 (eight ports, full feature set) is the step to take. If the wall goes in front of a camera, a genlockable machine is essential — the T1 is not suitable for that. If you only have to drive a small scenic surface and the Brompton ecosystem is not a consideration, a NovaStar MCTRL300 or a Colorlight S2 will do at a fraction of the price.
