NovaStar H-sorozat (H2 / H5 / H9) LED wall controller
The H series (H2, H5, H9) is NovaStar's flagship video wall splicing platform, which uses a modular card-based build (input, output and sending cards, such as the H_16xRJ45+2xfiber or the H_4xfiber) to handle complex LED wall or mixed display systems fed from many sources. The H2/H5/H9 naming indicates the slot count and the performance: the higher the number, the more card slots and processing capacity are available.
The official user manual and the per-model specification sheets (the H9 Video Wall Splicer Specifications, for instance) set out the supported card types and the maximum input/output counts. This platform typically appears in control rooms, studios and large display walls of mixed technology, where flexible expandability is a key consideration.
Where the H-sorozat sits in an LED wall system
Not a box but a card frame: input cards (HDMI, DVI, DP, VGA, SDI, and the H_2xRJ45 IP input), output sending cards (H_16xRJ45+2xfiber or H_20xRJ45, called LED 4K sending cards in the manufacturer's nomenclature), a control card and a preview card. The power switch is on the control card itself. The OPT ports mirror the data of the copper ports, so they are there for redundancy or a remote leg. The receiving side is the usual NovaStar A series.

On a control room or studio installation handling many kinds of input at once (camera, PC, LED wall, LCD), large and complex.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
Because of the card-based build, the price and performance of the final configuration depend heavily on the type and number of cards fitted.
The H-sorozat in practice
The device is operated from a web interface: the default IP address is 192.168.0.10, the control PC has to be put on the same subnet (192.168.0.X, where X is not 10), and you then log in from a browser. If an H_16xRJ45+2xfiber sending card is fitted, screen configuration must be done in NovaLCT rather than on the web page. The sending cards are numbered left to right in the frame, and the port allocation has to follow this, otherwise the cabinets end up swapped. One network port of the preview card has to go to the same switch as that of the control card, or the web page will offer no source and screen monitoring; the card's HDMI output goes to a separate local monitor.
Alternatives to the H-sorozat
If mixed inputs and card-based expandability are not needed, several MX40 Pros will carry the same pixel count for less money and less rack space. If the wall goes in front of a camera, the Brompton Tessera SX40 or the Megapixel VR HELIOS is the right direction. If the job is really media server content playback to several surfaces, the disguise vx/rx platform belongs there, not a splicer.
