Mean Well HLG-150H LED wall component
Mean Well's HLG series is one of the most widely used industrial-quality LED power supply families on the market: metal-housed, IP65/IP67 rated, operable in both constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) mode, in a 12-54V output voltage range, with power factor correction (PFC) and up to 96% efficiency. The HLG-150H is the 150 watt member of the family.
Although the HLG series was developed primarily for outdoor LED lighting (floodlights, area lighting), because of its robust IP rating and its 7-year manufacturer's warranty it is also a frequent choice for ancillary equipment on outdoor LED walls (lighting, indicator lamps, powering the internal electronics of an outdoor cabinet) — not to be confused with the modules' own low-voltage (5V) supply, which is typically handled by a different power supply series designed specifically for it (Mean Well EPP, or G-Energy JPS/GPS).
Where the HLG-150H sits in an LED wall system
The HLG sits after the AC side of the outdoor cabinet but before the modules' DC bus — except that it does not power the modules. On an LED wall project it typically feeds the cabinet's ancillary loads: the light sensor, an indicator lamp, outdoor camera lighting, cooling control. The modules' 5V bus is supplied by a separate high-current power supply (G-Energy JPS/GPS, Mean Well EPP), and the two branches run on separate circuit breakers, separately isolatable, in the cabinet.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
For powering the ancillary equipment of an outdoor LED wall (lighting, outdoor cabinet electronics), where the IP67 rating and the long manufacturer's warranty matter.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
The output voltage of the HLG series typically starts at 12V — this is NOT the right family for the LED modules' own 5V supply, which needs a high-current, low-voltage power supply designed specifically for it (Mean Well EPP or specialised 5V LED display supplies).

IP67 does not excuse the installer from sealing the cable entry: the most common outdoor fault is not the power supply but a badly tightened gland that lets water into the housing. The power supply should if possible be placed in the cabinet so that the cable exit faces downwards, so condensation does not collect on the connectors. The 7-year warranty is the manufacturer's commitment for operation within the nominal ambient temperature range — in a closed, unventilated outdoor cabinet the internal temperature easily exceeds this in summer, so the cabinet's ventilation has to be sized according to the datasheet's temperature range, not by feel.
Alternatives to the HLG-150H
If it is not outdoors and no IP rating is needed, the cheaper LRS-350 does the same job in an indoor cabinet. If the load is the LED modules' 5V bus, neither is suitable: that calls for a flat, high-current supply designed specifically for displays, like the G-Energy JPS. The deciding factor is simple: where the power supply is (in a protected cabinet or in the open), and what it feeds (electronics or the module bus).
