An outdoor RGB LED lamp bead (SMD2727, 2.7×2.7 mm) for fixed-installation outdoor LED walls, with an optional manufacturer's warranty of up to 5 years.

Kinglight 2727-CB-KS4 LED wall component
SMD2727 is one of the most widespread packaging sizes for fixed-installation outdoor walls, alongside the smaller SMD1921 and the larger, high-brightness SMD3535 — a good compromise between brightness, viewing angle and pixel density. The CB designation (clear face, black frame) is a build typical of outdoor use: the clear lens gives better brightness, while the black frame improves daytime contrast in direct sunlight.
The manufacturer's product page recommends it specifically for fixed-installation outdoor displays, with an optional warranty of up to 5 years — a manufacturer's commitment relating to the guaranteed brightness degradation (lumen degradation) of the LED lamp bead, which over the long term (5-10 years of operation) is one of the most important differentiating considerations for the lamp bead of an outdoor advertising wall or stadium board.
Where the 2727-CB-KS4 sits in an LED wall system
In an outdoor module the lamp bead sits in the cut-outs of the mask, with the rear of the PCB behind it closed by potting or a sealed rear panel — this is what gives the typical IP65 rating. For daytime readability the outdoor wall delivers several thousand cd/m², for which the bead is driven at a substantially higher current than indoors. The lamp bead's datasheet maximum current, the driver IC's set output current, the power supply's reserve and the cabinet's cooling are therefore a single connected sizing chain: undersizing any of them shows up in the lamp bead's lifespan.
WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE
For outdoor, fixed-installation advertising or sports boards, where even brightness lasting for years and good daytime contrast are the requirement.
WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR
An outdoor lamp bead does not guarantee the IP rating on its own — the module's potting, the sealing of the housing and the thermal load of the driver IC used together determine the actual outdoor lifespan; the lamp bead's datasheet is always worth assessing together with the module's other components.
The 2727-CB-KS4 in practice
What the customer sees from this a few years later is that the top row of the wall and the surface most exposed to the sun are more faded than the rest. With clear-lens (CB) packaging, ask about the lens material: silicone withstands UV better than epoxy, which can yellow over time, and that also shows in the colour temperature. With the wording 'warranty up to 5 years', ask in writing what it covers: failure of the lamp bead, or the percentage of remaining brightness (70% of the initial value, for instance) — the two are not the same, and only the latter says anything about the wall's lifespan. Ask likewise whether a single module can be replaced in the field, or only a complete cabinet.
Alternatives to the 2727-CB-KS4
For a denser outdoor grid (P2.5-P4), the smaller SMD1921 packaging is the one; on boards with a coarse pixel pitch and a long viewing distance (P6-P10, a roadside giant surface), SMD3535 gives more light and a larger heat-dissipating surface. In salty or heavily polluted air (the seaside, an industrial environment), the GOB build or full potting is the better-protected solution. This packaging is too large for indoor use: no grid denser than 2.7 mm can be built from it.
