In short

This RGB LED scrolling sign measures 150×30 cm and shows scrolling text and simple graphics across the full colour range – a combination of more than 16 million colours. It is controlled from an app over Wi-Fi and carries an IP54 rating, which protects against rain and dust but is not waterproof, so it can be installed in a sheltered outdoor position (under a shopfront canopy, in the covered area in front of a shop) or indoors. Brightness of 2,500 cd/m² is comfortably legible indoors and in covered spaces from 8–15 metres. The aluminium housing weighs about 5 kg and can be fitted by one person, and the content can be changed at any time from a phone, at home or in the shop. Anyone who wants to attract attention with colour – not just flashing white text – is better served by this model.

LED scrolling sign 150×30 cm – RGB Wi-Fi, indoor and sheltered outdoor

Compared with the classic single-colour build, the RGB LED scrolling sign creates a quite different visual effect: the scrolling text can appear in a different colour word by word or even letter by letter, so it draws far more attention. This 150×30 cm model, with its IP54 rating, works equally well in a sheltered outdoor position (in front of a shop, at a covered bus stop, for example) and indoors, and its Wi-Fi module makes refreshing the content easy. Because the colour is itself part of the message – red for the offer, green for the opening hours, blue for a calmer brand image – producing content is more creative than with a plain single-colour board. The typical audience is a shop, hospitality venue or service business where atmosphere and attention matter more than maximum outdoor brightness.

RGB technology and colour customisation

What colour options does the RGB scrolling sign offer?

The RGB LED matrix can display more than 16 million colours, and within the software it is straightforward to set what colour each letter, word or part of the message appears in. Dynamic transitions – a rainbow scroll, for instance – are particularly effective for promotional content and event announcements. Because colour also carries meaning, a well-composed colour transition can stop a passer-by on its own, before they have even read the text. This kind of attention-grabbing typically works better in a busy pedestrian zone than a single-colour board flashing in plain white.

Who it is for, and at what distance

What viewing distance is this size designed for?

The 150×30 cm housing allows two lines at a character height of around 15–20 cm, which by the general rule of thumb (roughly 1 mm of pixel pitch ≈ 2.5–3 metres of viewing distance) is comfortably legible from 8–15 metres, and against a good-contrast background can be made out from as far as 20 metres. That range fits the dimensions of a shop entrance, a reception or a covered retail walkway exactly – it does not need a whole street of sightlines, just a clearly visible interior or shopfront.

Quality you can rely on

Why is this board not cheap throwaway import?

The most common problem with the cheap, unbranded boards on the market is an LED matrix assembled from mixed production batches: after a few months the colour temperature becomes uneven and individual pixels fade. This model is built with quality-controlled RGB chips from a single production batch, so the colour stays uniform over the years. The expected service life of the LEDs is over 50,000 hours, which at 10–12 hours of operation a day means 10+ years without a significant fall in brightness. If a module does fail, Korád-Trade's service backing and the spare parts held in stock mean the swap is usually done within minutes, with no waiting weeks for a replacement from abroad.

Day-to-day operation and control

Will refreshing the text be complicated?

The Wi-Fi module connects to a 2.4 GHz network, and the content is typed in and sent from a simple phone app – about as much practice as writing an email. No IT specialist or special software knowledge is needed, and at handover Korád-Trade teaches you how to use it on site. Consumption at indoor, moderate brightness is estimated at around 60–100 W at this size, which comes to a few euros a month in electricity – no hidden surprises in running it.

LED scrolling sign 150×30 cm – RGB Wi-Fi, indoor and sheltered outdoor — frequently asked questions

How far away are the characters visible on a 150×30 cm RGB scrolling sign?

Depending on the pixel size, the text is clearly legible indoors from 8–15 metres. Two lines allow a character height of around 15–20 cm, which can be read at 20 metres against a background with sufficient contrast.

Can a bespoke logo be shown on the scrolling sign?

Limited graphic content – a simple logo pictogram, for example – yes: the software has a bitmap import function. For photographic image quality, though, we recommend a LED video wall.

How much does this board consume in a month?

At indoor, average brightness, power draw is estimated at around 60–100 W. At 12 hours of operation a day that comes to roughly 20–35 kWh a month, which on most business electricity tariffs is a few euros – no surprise hidden costs.

How long does the board last, and what is the warranty?

The expected service life of the LEDs is over 50,000 hours, which at 10–12 hours of operation a day is 10+ years without a significant fall in brightness. Korád-Trade provides the manufacturer's warranty on this, with spare parts supplied from stock.

Who installs it, and how long does it take?

The aluminium housing of about 5 kg can be put up by a single fitter, typically in half an hour to an hour, including commissioning the Wi-Fi. On request Korád-Trade carries out a free site survey beforehand, so we know exactly what fixings and cabling are needed.

Can I put this board outdoors?

Because of its IP54 rating it is only recommended for a sheltered outdoor position – under a shopfront canopy or above a covered entrance, for example – where it is not exposed to direct precipitation. For a fully open facade exposed to rain we recommend our IP65 outdoor scrolling sign models.
