ROE Visual Vanish V8S MKII LED module and cabinet

The Vanish series is ROE Visual's platform of large-format transparent LED panels, designed for shop windows, retail spaces and events, where the space behind the display remains visible alongside the picture. The white-LED version of the V8S MKII has an 8.9 mm pixel pitch and up to 62% light transmission.

The cabinet measures 1000×1000×67 mm, weighs 9.6 kg, and offers 3500 nit calibrated maximum brightness and a 3840 Hz refresh rate. Its power consumption is at most 460 W per cabinet (230 W on average), and it is IP40 rated, so it is primarily suitable for indoor use.

Thanks to the modular construction the panel is front-serviceable, and it can be curved concavely or convexly up to 10°.

Where the Vanish V8S MKII sits in an LED wall system

The Vanish's 1 000×1 000 mm cabinet typically hangs from an overhead beam in a shop window or is tensioned between slender aluminium columns — the consideration in mounting is to preserve the transparency, so there is no solid frame behind it and the direction of servicing only makes sense from the front. The cabinet is 112×112 = 12 544 pixels, which is remarkably few: 51 cabinets, that is 51 m² of wall, run on one gigabit port, so a typical shop window surface can be driven from a single port, even from a two-port NovaStar MCTRL300. The bottleneck is not the pixel count but the 460 W peak per cabinet.

WHEN IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

Recommended for shop windows, retail spaces and events, where the space behind the display (a product, a set) has to remain visible alongside the picture.

WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

Transparency affects contrast and readability against the background light; because of IP40 it is only suitable for indoor use.

The Vanish V8S MKII in practice

With a transparent wall the key installation question is the background light: in a sunlit shop window even 3 500 nit can be too little, so the viewing direction and the time of day have to be played through at the design stage, and critical content has to be placed in front of a dark background. The content is different too: thin-line, high-contrast graphics on a black background work, whereas photographs and video do not — the black pixel here is transparent. During rigging, the 10° concave/convex curving is a fixed position. Module replacement is from the front; because of the lattice structure the modules are narrow strips, replaceable in a few minutes, and the calibration data stays on the receiving card. Because of IP40 it belongs on the inside of the shop window, not on an open shopfront. Spares: 2–3% modules.

Alternatives to the Vanish V8S MKII

If the space behind it does not need to be visible, any conventional indoor panel is sharper and cheaper over the same area — for a retail space, the Unilumin UpanelS or the ROE Visual Ruby. If only a single, standalone advertising surface is needed in the window, the indoor version of the Desay Smart LED Poster is a plug-and-play solution with its own player. For events, where transparency is a set element, Vanish remains the option, but it cannot be taken onto an outdoor stage because of IP40.
