When side storage is better
If the counter stands free in the space and guests walk around it, then everything on top is visible to them as well. Side storage takes that out of the picture: the reserve stock, the bin and the untidy items disappear, and the top surface of the counter stays clear for service. The other case is when the counter is used from two directions: there an upper shelf narrows the working area, while side storage does not. That is typical at a corporate event where two bartenders work on one island.
Modular building: what you get in 90 cm steps
One element is a 90 cm counter section. With the 80 × 80 cm corner element an L shape can be built, with arms of 80 + 90 = 170 cm. Two corners and three straight elements give a U shape with an island of roughly 250 × 170 cm, in which two or three bartenders can work. It is worth buying a mix: an upper-shelf element at the working position, side-storage elements at the ends. That way the frequently used items are to hand while the less attractive ones stay out of sight.
Running time and light
Two 5200 mAh batteries work in it. The manufacturer states 6–8 hours of lighting time depending on the colour, which covers an evening of bar service; charging can be done during the day before opening. The seven colours switch by remote control on every element at once — so an assembled counter lights in a uniform colour and will not look patchy. No cable runs to it, so the bar can be placed where the flow of guests wants it, not where the socket happens to be.

25 kg and 90 × 80 cm: plan for two people per piece. In the vehicle, four elements stand in one layer on a 1.7 × 3 metre floor, so a three-element bar fits into a van. The body is IP54 water-resistant, UV-resistant, impact-resistant polyethylene that also tolerates temperature extremes: it can stay out on a terrace right through the season. The counter top wipes down with a damp cloth, and so does the inside of the side storage once its contents are removed — that is where spilt syrup collects, so it is worth checking at closing.
