In short

With a 3.076 mm pixel pitch, ≥4500 cd/m² brightness and 8000:1 contrast, the P3 outdoor module is the base module for classic shopfront and street-level advertising walls, from a viewing distance of around 8–9 metres. Because of the SMD1415 LED chip and the rear maintenance build, a technician can replace a module while leaving the front of the wall untouched. With IP65 protection and an operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C, the weather is no problem all year round. Its average consumption is 278 W/m² (836 W/m² at peak), and with a 100,000-hour service life it is an investment you can plan for.

LED module P3 outdoor – SMD 4500 nit

P3 outdoor is one of the most sought-after pitches for open-air advertising walls: fine enough to give a sharp, detailed picture from the typical street viewing distance of 8–9 metres, yet with a larger pixel size that makes the unit price and the consumption more favourable than P2.5 outdoor. The module uses SMD1415 LED chips with ≥4500 cd/m² brightness, which keeps the content readable even in the strongest summer sun. The rear maintenance build means the technician reaches the modules from behind, without breaking into the wall's front panel — critical on permanently installed, high-mounted or hard-to-reach facade walls. The operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C and the IP65 protection guarantee reliable operation from winter frosts to a facade heating up in the summer sun.

Why most buyers settle on this pitch

The P3 outdoor module represents a good middle way in terms of viewing distance and image sharpness: as a rule of thumb it gives a perfectly smooth picture from around 8–9 metres, which is exactly the typical sightline distance of shopfronts, street-front advertising walls and shopping streets. It is finer than the large-board P4 or P5 pitch, so it also performs well with closer street traffic, yet it is not as expensive or energy-hungry as P2.5 outdoor, which we designed for arm's-length viewing. That makes P3 the most frequently recommended outdoor solution for the facade advertising walls of independent shops, restaurants and service businesses.

4500 nit: readable even in midday glare

The ≥4500 cd/m² brightness and the 8000:1 contrast ratio guarantee that the content stays readable even in the strongest summer sun, in direct midday light — one of the most important and often underestimated considerations on outdoor projects: an undersized, low-brightness panel becomes practically invisible around midday. Automatic brightness control reduces the output to match the time of day at night, which both spares the eye from dazzling light and cuts consumption. The 3840–7680 Hz refresh range gives a flicker-free image when recorded on camera too, if the wall is used to show advertising films or brand content.

Rear maintenance: what that means in practice

On the P3 outdoor module — unlike the indoor GOB series — servicing is done from the rear: the technician reaches the faulty module from the protected back of the wall, without having to break into the facade front panel. This build is critical on advertising walls that are mounted high up, hard to reach, or permanently in view, because servicing does not disturb the appearance of the wall and does not require scaffolding at the front on a busy street frontage. The dual HUB75 signal interface (2 ports) provides reliable, redundant signal transmission, one of the pillars of stability on large outdoor walls.

Weather resistance and consents

The module works in an operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C, which covers everything from sub-zero winter days to facades warming strongly in summer, with IP65 protection against rain and dust. Before installing an advertising wall that is also visible from public space, it is worth clarifying the question of a public-space use permit and a townscape notification — we help with that from the site survey through to compiling the documentation. Average consumption is 278 W/m² and 836 W/m² at peak, which gives a transparent basis for calculating the monthly running cost in advance, and the 100,000-hour service life promises 10+ years of reliable operation.

LED module P3 outdoor – SMD 4500 nit — frequently asked questions

From what distance is a P3 advertising wall clearly legible?

It gives a perfectly smooth, sharp picture from a viewing distance of around 8–9 metres, which fits the typical sightline distance of shopfronts and street-front advertising walls exactly.

Why is this module serviced from the rear rather than the front?

The rear maintenance build of outdoor SMD modules means the technician can replace a module from the protected back of the wall without having to break into the facade front — more practical on walls that are mounted high up or permanently in view.

Does it stand up to summer heat and winter frost alike?

Yes, it is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C, with IP65 protection against rain and dust, which covers the full annual weather cycle.

Is consent needed for a street-front P3 advertising wall?

For an outdoor advertising wall also visible from public space, a public-space use permit or a townscape notification is typically required — we help with that from the site survey to compiling the documentation.

How much does a P3 facade wall consume per month?

278 W/m² on average and 836 W/m² at peak — real operation with mixed content typically runs at a half to a third of the peak figure, and automatic brightness control cuts consumption further at night.
