LED module P2.5 indoor – GOB (high brightness)

On many indoor projects the problem lies not in the pitch but in the brightness: in a large glass-walled atrium, in the light-flooded space of a shopping centre, or in a position also visible from the shop window, a standard panel of ≥400 cd/m² can look washed out and pale for part of the day. The high-brightness P2.5 GOB module is made for exactly that situation: the same 2.5 mm pixel pitch and 160,000 pixels/m² resolution, but with ≥500 cd/m² brightness, which can compete with direct sunlight. The technical price of the higher brightness is somewhat higher consumption (163 W/m² on average instead of the standard 126 W/m²) and a finer 1/32 scan — the latter serving brightness uniformity in practice. GOB technology and bin-matched colour selection apply to this version just the same, only paired with a stronger light source.

When high brightness is needed

Standard indoor panels of ≥400 cd/m² are perfectly adequate in most office, event and business spaces, but there are situations where that is not enough: a large glass-walled shopping centre atrium where strong sunlight reaches the wall through the rooflight, a display placed in a glazed space that is also transparent from the shop window, or an atrium where natural light is significant alongside the artificial lighting. In these cases the ≥500 cd/m² version ensures that the picture does not look washed out or pale against its surroundings even in the brightest hours of the day. At the site survey we assess the light conditions too, and only recommend this more expensive, higher-consumption version if the space genuinely warrants it.

The same resolution, different light output

The pixel pitch and resolution of the high-brightness version are identical to the standard P2.5 GOB module — 2.5 mm, 160,000 pixels/m² — so the image sharpness and the viewing distance requirement are the same; only the light output has been tuned higher. The finer 1/32 scan (against 1/64 on the standard version) serves brightness uniformity and stability even at high output, so that the picture does not become uneven or flicker. This module is ideal for projects that want to keep the sizing and pricing of the standard P2.5 but need a stronger light source because of the light conditions in the space.

Consumption: what you pay for the extra brightness

Average consumption is 163 W/m² and the peak is 488 W/m² — that is 29 per cent higher than the standard P2.5's 126 W/m² average, but still lower than the consumption of the P2 or the fine-pitch P1 series. In return, the extra cost guarantees that the picture stays clearly visible in the brightest hours of the day, with no need to darken the space artificially or install shading to protect the wall. In large, light-filled atriums this is the only way to make sure the investment performs throughout the day, not just in overcast or evening hours.

GOB protection and installation in bright spaces

GOB technology gives the same physical protection here too: the LEDs are cast into a transparent layer of resin, which results in a homogeneous, scratch-resistant, impact- and moisture-resistant surface, and the panel is front serviceable. In glass-walled, busy spaces — where the wall is often close to larger crowds — this physical protection is particularly important. Bin-matched selection of quality LED chips ensures uniform colour across the whole surface, and installation and brightness setup are carried out by our own team, matched to the actual light conditions on site, so that the picture is neither too pale nor needlessly strong.

How does this differ from the standard P2.5 indoor module?

How do I know whether I need this, or whether the standard version is enough?

At the free site survey we examine the actual light conditions in the space — if the wall gets direct sunlight or will be near a large glazed area, we recommend the high-brightness version; otherwise the standard version is perfectly adequate.

Is this higher brightness suitable for outdoor use too?

No, this is still an indoor, IP65 module — made for strongly sunlit but covered interiors; for direct outdoor installation exposed to rain we recommend our outdoor SMD series (P2.5 outdoor, P3, P4, P5).

Is it as durable as the standard GOB module?

Yes — the GOB casting gives the same physical protection here against impact, dust and moisture, and the quality LED chips are selected by production batch in the same way to guarantee uniform colour.
