The dimensions of the island
The simplest arrangement: the table in the middle and the four cubes on its four sides, with a 10 cm gap. That makes 40 + 10 + 60 + 10 + 40 = 160 cm square, that is 1.6 x 1.6 m, about 2.6 m2. Four or five islands therefore fit into a 6 x 6 metre festival tent with room to walk between them. If the island goes against a wall, you can also put the cubes in a line with the table at the end of the row: 4 x 40 cm plus the gaps, roughly a 2.4 m long bench-like row. The cubes are not linked to each other, guests will rearrange them over the course of an evening anyway, and here that does no harm.
Low table, higher stool: what to watch for
The cube is 40 cm high and the table 20 cm. For an adult the 20 cm top is low: you reach down to it while seated, so in an adult chill zone the table is more a place to put things and a central point of light than an eating surface. For children, though, it is exactly the right height - at a party the glass, the colouring book and the board game can go on it. If adults need a higher surface, turn one cube into a table: the 40 x 40 cm top is enough for two glasses, and with a load capacity of 150-200 kg the cube takes the weight easily. That leaves three seats with a table and a low point of light in the middle. The flexibility of the set lies exactly in this: there is no fixed arrangement.
Five batteries and the charging routine
Each of the four cubes has a 2600 mAh battery and the table has a 5200 mAh one: five batteries in all, 15,600 mAh. The manufacturer states 6-8 hours of light depending on the colour, which covers the evening stretch of a festival day or an afternoon party. At a festival charging is the most important operational question: if you use four or five sets, that is twenty to twenty-five pieces to charge one after another during the day. It is worth scheduling the charging for the early afternoon, while the chill zone is still empty, so that every piece starts the evening with a full battery. The seven colours are switched by remote control, on every piece at once.
Handling and cleaning
One cube weighs 4.84 kg, so one person carries two at a time; the table is 4 kg. One person brings the whole set in in three trips, two people in two. The pieces are small, and several fit into the boot of a car, which counts at school and family events. The body is polyethylene, IP54 protected, UV- and impact-resistant. At a festival mud and spilt soft drinks are the main enemy, but there is no upholstery on it, so a damp cloth cleans each piece in a minute. The set carries a 5% discount. Is the 20 cm table comfortable for an adult?
As a surface to put things on, yes; as an eating surface it is low: from a 40 cm cube you have to reach down to it. In an adult zone it is worth turning one cube into a table, whereas for children 20 cm is exactly the right height. That leaves three seats and one higher surface.
How much space does one island take up?
