In short

The P8 outdoor LED module is the most cost-effective member of our outdoor range, optimised for the longest viewing distances and ideal for covering motorways, large car parks and huge building facades. Because of the wide pixel pitch, a given surface can be built from significantly fewer LEDs and at lower cost, while from 15–20 metres or more the picture still stays completely sharp and clean. It is made in full colour with 16.7 million colours, full IP65 protection and brightness at or above around 5000 cd/m², so it stays clearly visible in extreme sunlight. Because of the modular build, even a large wall of up to a hundred square metres stays quick to service from the front. If you need to cover a large surface economically but still in full-colour quality, this is the best choice.

LED module P8 outdoor

The P8 module is the widest-pitch and at the same time the most cost-effective member of our outdoor LED range, designed specifically for projects where the surface is large and the viewing distance considerable — think of a billboard-sized advertising wall beside a motorway, the facade of an industrial hall, or an information board above a large car park. At such a distance the eye no longer registers the wider pixel pitch, so P8 gives just as enjoyable and sharp a picture as a finer, more expensive module, at a significantly lower investment cost. The module is made with full-colour display, outstandingly high brightness and full outdoor protection, so that it runs reliably for years in the largest and most extreme open-air conditions, with our own service operation behind it.

Covering large surfaces cost-effectively

When a project extends to dozens or even hundreds of square metres — a motorway-side advertising board, a factory hall facade or an information wall on a large industrial site, for instance — the choice of pixel pitch directly and significantly affects the total cost of the investment, since denser modules require proportionally more LEDs and more complex control. The P8 module provides the answer for exactly these projects: because the planned viewing distance is typically 15–20 metres or more — for drivers and for viewers a long way off — the wider pixel structure causes no perceptible loss of quality, while it significantly reduces the number of modules and with it the total system price for a given surface. That makes P8 the most popular choice on large industrial, logistics and motorway-side advertising projects, where the aim is the maximum surface at minimum cost.

Extreme outdoor conditions, high brightness

Performance and durability

The P8 module is made with outstandingly high brightness, typically at or above around 5000 cd/m², which is essential if the surface operates in open terrain exposed to direct, unobstructed sunlight — beside a motorway or on a large, open industrial site, for instance. The full IP65 protection at the front guarantees that rain, dust and extreme temperature swings do not affect the module's performance even years later. Alongside full-colour display, 16.7 million colours and high contrast, the large surface can also show dynamic advertising content, logistics information or brand graphics, not only static lettering. The 100,000-hour service life and the standard HUB75 connection provide long-term, low-maintenance operation, a particularly important consideration on large, hard-to-reach surfaces.

Operating a large surface: consumption and maintenance

The consumption of a large P8 wall of several dozen square metres naturally comes to a higher figure than that of a smaller display, but its consumption per square metre — typically around 150–250 W/m² on average — does not differ significantly from finer-pitch modules; because of the large size, though, it is always worth calculating the cost of the support structure, the control and the power feed in advance from a transparent itemised list, not just the price of the modules. Control here too is from a single software interface, which on a large surface is just as simple to handle as on a smaller sign. Because the modules are also accessible from the front and can be replaced on their own, maintaining a hard-to-reach, high-mounted wall does not mean constant visits with a cherry picker — modular repairability delivers its greatest saving here over the long term.

LED module P8 outdoor — frequently asked questions

Why is a finer-pitch module not worth choosing on large surfaces?

If the viewing distance is 15–20 metres or more, the eye no longer registers the finer pixel structure, so a more expensive, denser module would raise the cost of the investment needlessly with no perceptible improvement in quality.

What brightness is the P8 module made with for extreme sunlight?

The module is typically made with brightness above 5000 cd/m², which ensures the content stays clearly visible in open terrain and direct sunlight.

Is it suitable for large, dynamic advertising content, or only static lettering?

Because of the full-colour display, dynamic advertising animation, brand graphics and even video content can be shown on it, not just simple static text.

What does it cost to run a large P8 wall of several dozen square metres?

Its consumption per square metre runs at around 150–250 W/m² with average content, and we always give the cost items — module, support structure, control, installation — in a transparent breakdown when you request a quote.

How is a hard-to-reach, high-mounted wall repaired?

The modules are also accessible from the front and can be replaced on their own, so replacing a faulty element does not require constant visits with a cherry picker, only targeted, planned maintenance.

What is the warranty on an investment this large?

We give a multi-year warranty on the modules, and because we hold spare parts in stock, replacing a failed element does not mean a long wait on the manufacturer.
