The bespoke LED advertising board is an outdoor display designed to the size and the site, manufactured for local authorities, shopping centres and roadside advertising operators. The size, the brightness and the support structure of the board are matched in every case to the specific installation location, the viewing distance and the local consent requirements. It is built from weatherproof, high-brightness outdoor modules that stay legible under street lighting and in direct sunlight alike, at a brightness of up to 5000 nit and above. It can be installed on a structurally engineered support in pole-mounted or facade-mounted form, and the life of the modules is around 100,000 operating hours, which means more than 20 years of service even at 12 hours a day. Every quotation starts with a free site survey, at which we determine the size, the brightness and the consent requirements precisely.
Bespoke LED advertising board
The bespoke LED advertising board comes into its own where conventional, standard-sized displays do not fit the conditions of the site or the requirements of the operator. We design the size, shape and brightness of the board around the specific installation location, the viewing distance and the nature of the traffic, and size the support structure by structural calculation for that particular environment. The project starts with a site survey and a consultation on consents, so the client knows exactly what to expect before manufacturing begins. Quality outdoor LED chips and bin-matched colour calibration ensure that the board still gives an even, vivid picture years after installation, without going patchy or yellowing prematurely.

When a bespoke-sized board is needed, and what the viewing distance should be
On municipal and public-realm advertising surfaces the available space, its shape or the permitted brightness is often fixed, and a standard display does not always fit precisely. The bespoke LED advertising board is the answer in those situations: we match the size, the resolution and the brightness control to the conditions on site and to the local regulations. The choice of pixel pitch depends directly on the viewing distance: for roadside traffic passing at speed a 6–10 mm pitch is sufficient, while in a pedestrian zone, at a distance of a few metres, a 3–4 mm pitch gives a sharp picture — choosing an unnecessarily fine pitch would only mean unjustified extra cost. For shopping centres, the size and position of the board often follow the facade design of the building or an existing pole system, which we also agree during the design phase. Every project begins with a free site survey, at which we establish the final specification from the viewing distance, the direction of traffic and the lighting conditions.
Manufacture, consents and operation
We manufacture the support structure in pole-mounted or facade-mounted form, matched to the load-bearing capacity and wind load of the site, with a structural design. The modules are made to IP65 or higher outdoor protection so that they run reliably in wet weather, below freezing and in blazing sun. We provide the technical documentation and the visualisations required for the consent process during the design phase, so that approval by the local authority runs smoothly. Content management is handled through remote access, which allows advertising blocks to be scheduled and the brightness to be regulated automatically; no IT expertise is needed to run the system, and the daily content change can be made through a browser-based interface by anyone who can write an email.
Quality and reliability: why a cheap import board is a false economy
A public-realm board runs for years, sometimes 12–16 hours a day, so the quality of the components directly reduces the operational risk. We use quality outdoor LED chips and bin-matched colour calibration, which means there is no visible colour variation between modules either at handover or years later when a module is replaced. The expected life of the LEDs is around 100,000 operating hours, which even at 10–12 hours a day means 20–25 years of service without significant loss of brightness. We supply parts from regional stock, so repairing a module fault is typically a matter of minutes rather than weeks, because the modular construction means only the element concerned has to be swapped and the whole board does not have to come down.
Typical applications
Bespoke LED advertising board — frequently asked questions
Is building or advertising consent required?
Most public-realm installations require consent. We provide the technical documentation and visualisations needed for the application during the design phase, and we help with the discussions too.
Will the brightness dazzle pedestrians or drivers?
No — the board is built with automatic brightness control, which sets the intensity of the display according to the time of day and the light conditions, turning it down at night and up during the day.
What is the warranty, and how long does the board last?
The expected life of the LED modules is around 100,000 operating hours, which means more than 10–20 years of service, and we give a warranty on that and on the support structure, set out in the contract.
What happens if a module fails years later?
Because of the modular construction, only the panel concerned has to be replaced rather than the whole board; we supply the part from regional stock, and on builds with a service door the swap can also be done from the front.
Will it cope with hard winters and summer heat?
Yes — the modules are made to IP65 or higher protection, in an outdoor build tested from below freezing to the height of summer sun.
Is there a site survey before ordering?
Yes — every bespoke board starts with a free site survey, at which we settle the size, the brightness and the consent requirements.
