In short

This 64×16 cm programmable LED sign is built from a single-colour LED matrix – red, green or yellow – and displays messages that can be changed over USB or from the buttons on the unit. It is designed for indoor use, with IP20 protection, 200 cd/m² brightness and four stored message profiles. The control software takes about ten minutes to learn once installed, and it handles the full accented character set. With a 100,000-hour LED life (more than 27 years even at 10 hours a day) and a 1–2 year warranty, it is the most frequently chosen entry-level LED sign. It typically costs 40% less than an RGB version of the same size, yet it is built around the same quality LED chip and backed by the same service support.

Programmable LED sign 64×16 cm – single-colour

This 64×16 cm single-colour version represents the simplest and most affordable form of the programmable LED sign. Alongside fixed, non-scrolling text, scrolling and flashing effects can also be programmed, and the internal memory holds four different messages that alternate in turn. In a restaurant it handles the daily menu perfectly; in a shop, an 'Open/Closed' indication or a short offer announcement. The sign reads comfortably up to a distance of 3–5 metres, so it performs well in a shop window, at a till or on a reception desk alike. Because of the indoor IP20 rating it belongs in a dry, covered space; outdoor mounting is not recommended where there is rain or damp.

Who this sign suits, and how far away it can be read

The single-colour LED sign is ideal for businesses whose message is short and changes relatively rarely: opening hours, the daily menu, a queue number, the offer of the day. Because of the 64×16 cm size and the resulting character height, the lettering reads comfortably from 3–5 metres, which matches the typical sightline at a till, a reception desk or a shop window exactly. If the sign also has to be readable from the street, at 8–10 metres, it is worth choosing the larger 96×32 cm RGB sister model or a modular LED wall. The single-colour version has deliberately been optimised for clean, fast legibility rather than for spectacle, which is why pharmacies, schools and waiting-room operators choose it too, wherever the aim is clear, undistracting communication.

The quality beneath the surface

Many people worry that a LED sign in this price bracket will be cheap throwaway import that discolours or burns out within a few months. That is why every single LED chip that goes into the sign comes from the same production batch, matched for brightness and colour temperature, so the display does not go patchy or uneven the way anonymous products assembled from mixed batches so often do. The rated life of the LEDs is 100,000 operating hours, which at 10 hours of use a day means more than 27 years before the brightness falls to 50% of its initial value. If an element does fail, the module can be replaced, and parts are available from regional stock, so service is typically a matter of a few days rather than weeks of waiting on a distant supplier.

Running it: handling, consumption, training

With the control software installed on a Windows machine, the sign can be programmed over a USB cable with no internet connection at all – if you can write an email and edit a Word document, you will be able to handle this confidently too. The six effects (scroll, fade-in, flash and the rest) are chosen from a drop-down menu, and changing the message is a few clicks. Its energy consumption is negligible: being a single-colour LED matrix, peak draw is typically around 10–15 W, which at 10 hours of operation a day comes to 3–4.5 kWh a month, in other words effectively invisible on the electricity bill. At handover the operating staff receive short training, which is part of the price rather than a separate service – from that point on they can refresh the messages themselves.

Installation and how ordering works

Mounting the sign is straightforward: we fix it to a wall bracket or a support frame, power comes from an ordinary socket, and the connection is typically done within half an hour. As this is a small indoor sign it does not usually call for any official consent, but if it is placed in a shop window with visibility from the street it is always worth clarifying that – we help with it during the survey. As part of the free site survey we look at the intended location and the sightline, and also at whether the single-colour or the RGB version better serves the purpose. Typically only a few working days pass between order and installation, since this is a product available immediately from stock rather than a bespoke build.

Programmable LED sign 64×16 cm – single-colour — frequently asked questions

Can the LED sign display accented characters?

Yes — the software carries a full accented character set (á, é, í, ó, ö, ő, ú, ü, ű among them), so text in any of the Central European languages can be entered without a problem.

Is an internet connection needed to programme the LED sign?

No — USB programming works offline. Once the software is installed, the computer communicates with the sign over a USB cable with no internet connection.

How long will the sign last before it has to be replaced?

The rated life of the LEDs is 100,000 operating hours, which at 10 hours of use a day means more than 27 years before the brightness halves — in other words, in normal operation it effectively does not wear out within the warranty period.

What is the warranty, and what happens if it fails?

The sign carries the usual 1–2 year warranty; in the event of a fault the module can be replaced, and parts are available from regional stock, so service can typically be completed within days.

Who installs it, and how long does the whole process take?

The sign is installed by our own team after the survey; fitting typically takes 1–2 hours, after which the operating staff also receive short training.

Can it be upgraded later to RGB or to a larger sign?

A single-colour sign cannot itself be converted to colour, but if larger or full-colour display is needed in future, the 96×32 cm RGB model or a modular LED wall offers a route to expand.
