In short

This 128×32 cm dual-colour programmable LED sign combines red and green LEDs to display three colours – red, green and yellow – in a two-line layout. It can be ordered with a USB or an optional Wi-Fi controller, carries indoor IP20 protection, and connects directly to POS systems and queue-management systems over an RS232/USB port. Across a 32 cm height, two lines give a character height of 10–12 cm, which is readable from 15–20 metres indoors. It is the most cost-effective answer wherever the need is not video content but fast, clearly visible text.

Programmable LED sign 128×32 cm – dual-colour

The dual-colour LED sign – also known as a bicolour LED sign – sits between the single-colour and the RGB versions: by combining red and green LEDs it can display three colours, red, green and yellow, which makes eye-catching, signal-like communication possible. The 128×32 cm size gives two full lines, enough for two short lines at once or one longer message at a comfortable character size. It is ideal for anyone who needs not video or photographic-quality graphics but fast, unambiguous text information readable from a long way off – a queue number, a price, a message – reliably and cost-effectively. The simplicity of the sign is also its strength: less electronics, fewer things to go wrong, stable operation over the long term.

Who we recommend it to, and how far away it can be read

The classic applications for a dual-colour LED sign are queue management, quick-service restaurant menu boards, customer routing in bank branches and internal signalling systems in logistics warehouses – wherever the aim is not a spectacular visual experience but fast, unambiguous, error-free information. Across a 32 cm sign height, two lines give a character height of roughly 10–12 cm, which reads well from 15–20 metres indoors, while a single line allows characters up to 20–24 cm, recognisable from the far end of a larger waiting area. If the purpose is more about brand presentation, a logo or video, it is worth choosing from our full-colour indoor or outdoor signs – and we are happy to help you decide.

Technical parameters and system integration

Mixing red and green diodes also produces yellow, so three colours are available within a single sign. That allows an offer price to appear in red, the product name in green and the date in yellow, which improves legibility and visual hierarchy without needing an RGB display and its higher price. Brightness is 300 cd/m², comfortably readable indoors under artificial lighting. The interface is serial USB, optionally extendable with Wi-Fi, and the RS232/USB port allows direct connection to POS systems, queue-management software and retail ERP systems; for bespoke integration we provide API documentation. The sign stores eight message profiles in memory, which can be switched by programme or manually.

Reliability – fewer components, fewer things to go wrong

The advantage of dual-colour technology is that it is simpler in construction than a full-colour RGB display, so there are fewer electronic failure points and it runs stably over the long term – signs of this kind often run for years as a queue display or a retail display with no maintenance at all. Here too we fit only bin-matched LEDs from a named manufacturer, so that the red and green tones stay even across the whole surface, with no discordant, faded patches. The expected life of the LED chips is 100,000 operating hours, which means 20 years and more even at 10–12 hours of continuous operation a day. In the event of a fault, service backing and spare parts held in regional stock are available, so a repair does not mean a long wait for parts from abroad.

Commissioning and day-to-day handling

The sign can be programmed from a computer over USB using the supplied software, which makes setting the text, the colour assignments and the timing straightforward – the interface is clean enough that if you can write an email you will learn it in minutes. For system integration (POS, queue management) we make the connection ourselves and provide end-user operation through the interface of that system, so the cashier or receptionist does not have to learn a separate LED application. Training is part of handover, and because the sign's energy demand is low, running it continuously, even all day, puts no meaningful load on the electricity bill.

Programmable LED sign 128×32 cm – dual-colour — frequently asked questions

Can this dual-colour LED sign be connected to a POS system?

Yes — it connects to POS systems over an RS232 or USB serial port. Used as a customer display it shows the current total or the queue number automatically, and we provide API documentation for bespoke integration.

What character size can it display across a 32 cm height?

Text can be displayed on two lines at a character height of roughly 10–12 cm, which is readable from 15–20 metres indoors. On a single line, characters of up to 20–24 cm are possible.

How long will this sign last, and what warranty do I get?

The expected life of the LED chips is 100,000 operating hours, which means 20 years and more even at 10–12 hours of operation a day. We give a manufacturer's warranty on the sign, supply parts from stock, and provide service through our own team.

Why should I choose dual-colour rather than a full-colour RGB sign?

If the aim is fast, unambiguous text — a queue number or a price, for instance — the simpler construction of the dual-colour sign makes it more reliable and typically lower in cost than an RGB display. For video or brand presentation we recommend our full-colour models.

Can the system be extended later, to several signs for example?

Yes — the USB/Wi-Fi interface and software control allow further signs to be added to the system later, and we can also link it to your existing POS or ERP software through bespoke API integration.

Who installs it, and how much training is involved?

Installation and system integration (POS connection, for example) are carried out by our team, and training is an integral part of handover at no extra charge — if you can write an email, you will pick up the control software in minutes.
