Why weight is the most important number in a large set
40 chairs, two people, four pieces per trip: ten trips, realistically twenty minutes. The same job with 14 kg chairs is twenty trips and three or four people instead of two. Over a season with two events a week, that is a difference of ten to fifteen working hours. The 7 kg does mean, though, that it can shift in the wind on an empty terrace. If you work at a windy venue and the chairs stay out overnight, it is worth either mixing in a heavier model or storing the chairs pushed together.
Which table it is made for
The 72 cm total height suits the 73–76 cm dining and party tables: in this range the Ø100 × 75 cm, the Ø80 × 76 cm and the 80 × 80 × 73 cm models. This is not the chair for a bar counter or a cocktail table. At a Ø100 round table, four of these chairs is the comfortable number given the 65 cm width. For a dinner for 60, the guideline is therefore 15 tables and 60 chairs.
Light and running time
A 5200 mAh battery, 6–8 hours of lighting depending on the colour. A dinner evening from 6 pm to midnight is covered on a single charge. The seven colours are switched by remote control on every chair at once. In a room with 60 chairs that is no small thing: the mood of the whole room changes with a single movement, with no need to touch 60 pieces. There is no cable, so the chairs can still be moved freely after the tables are laid.
Outdoor use and cleaning
Polyethylene body, IP54 water-resistant, UV-resistant, impact-resistant, able to cope with extreme temperatures. At a garden wedding a shower does not carry the set away, and 60 chairs do not have to be brought in in a panic. Cleaning is done with a damp cloth, with no fabric cover. When to choose a heavier chair instead
This model is the optimum for events with large chair counts and quick set-up. In two situations, though, the heavier 14 kg chair is the better one: on an open, windy terrace where the chairs stay out even when empty, and at venues where guests lean back and brace themselves against the chair — there the greater weight of the chair itself gives stability. The third consideration is comfort: if the programme includes a seated part longer than two hours, the cushioned version, which costs about five per cent more per piece, usually pays for itself in the guest experience. If the guest sits down for twenty minutes, however, this uncushioned model is the more economical.
