Samobor lies inside Zagreb's commuter ring without behaving like a suburb. It kept its own square, its own confectioners and a visitor flow that swells from Friday evening onwards, when cars come out along the A3 corridor for an afternoon in the old centre. For a permanently installed display that weekend rhythm counts for more than the resident figure of roughly 37,400 people. A screen fitted above a shopfront on Trg kralja Tomislava, inside a dealership on the Bregana approach or in a sports hall works hardest on two days out of seven, and that fact ought to shape the brightness, the mounting height and the scheduling long before anyone argues about resolution.

What actually fixes the finished dimensions?

Every wall we build is assembled from a single module type, and that module is always laid the wide way round: 32 centimetres across, 16 centimetres tall. The consequence is arithmetic rather than opinion. Picture width comes out as a multiple of 32 centimetres and picture height as a multiple of 16, so there is no diagonal to choose from a catalogue and no bespoke panel to wait for. In practice we start from the opening you already have. A clear wall of 3.2 metres between two pilasters takes ten modules across; a 1.6 metre height takes ten rows. If the available space is 3.4 metres, the honest answer is that the picture will be 3.2 metres and the remaining 20 centimetres becomes frame, not display. Saying that at survey stage avoids a disappointed conversation on fitting day.

Which pitch belongs to the distance your visitors stand at?

Measured from the nearest reader, never the furthest

Pixel pitch is chosen from the shortest sightline in the room, because that is where the structure of the image becomes visible. Where people come within about two metres of the surface, such as a serving counter in one of the kremšnita houses on the main square or a reception desk, P1.5 to P2.5 is the working range. Where the front row stands five to ten metres back, as in a showroom or a hall, P2.5 to P4 is correct. For a forecourt or a wall read from the far pavement, P4 to P8 is enough and costs considerably less. The expensive error runs in one direction only. Buying a fine pitch for a display nobody approaches wastes money quietly; buying a coarse pitch for a surface people stand beside produces a screen that looks like a grid of dots at the exact moment it matters.

Is the display facing weather, or a heated room?

An outdoor screen is sealed to IP65 and driven at 4,500 to 5,500 nits of operating brightness, which is what it takes to stay readable when afternoon light comes down the Gradna valley onto a south-facing frontage. An indoor screen runs at 700 to 800 nits, because anything more in a shop interior is uncomfortable rather than impressive. The classic and costly mistake is putting an interior build behind glass in a bright window. The glazing adds reflection, the sunlight adds competing luminance, and the result is a display that only works after dusk. If a screen has to sit in a window that catches the sun, it is specified as an outdoor unit even though it never gets wet.

Is there a version that requires no installation whatsoever?

The LED poster is a free-standing digital placard: an upright screen carried on a wheeled base, weighing 45 kilograms per unit. Two people take it off the tail lift, roll it to where it is wanted and connect it to an ordinary socket. Nothing is anchored to your building, so there is no scaffold hire, no access platform booked for a morning, no fixing drilled into a frontage somebody else owns and no structural opinion to commission. The customer positions it, and can move it again next month. Across 338 kilometres this rewrites the calendar rather than merely the price. A bolted wall means a survey journey and then a separate fitting journey, planned around access equipment and a working platform. A poster leaves the works, arrives and is showing content in the same week. In the indoor P2.5 build it takes over from the printed poster in a pastry shop window on Trg kralja Tomislava or the roll-up banner in a hotel foyer, and because the controllers chain, a single unit bought now can later become one column of a wider continuous picture without being replaced.

How does the picture reach the screen once it is up?

A live input, or a schedule that runs without you

There are two ways in, and most customers end up using both. An HDMI input takes a live signal from a laptop, a media player or a camera, which is what you want when something is happening in front of the screen. Alternatively the content is loaded over the network or from a USB stick and played to a timetable, so the display changes at nine, at noon and at closing without anyone touching it. The controller is reachable over Wi-Fi as well as by cable, which matters more than it sounds. It means no data run has to be chased through a listed-looking frontage or a suspended ceiling to reach the display position. The screen needs mains power at its location; the pictures can arrive through the air.

What does ordering from 338 kilometres away actually involve?

One survey, one fitting, and a travel line you can read

We survey first: measurements of the opening, the substrate the frame will be fixed to, the position and rating of the supply, and the sightlines from where people will really be standing. Manufacture then happens at the works, and the unit arrives configured rather than assembled on your floor. At this distance a same-day return is possible but tight, so where the work needs an early start we travel the previous afternoon. Travel and subsistence for a job outside Hungary are itemised in the quotation as separate figures; they are never folded into the square-metre price, because you are entitled to see what the journey costs. Warranty is one or two years depending on the build, and every consignment includes spare modules, so a single failed tile is swapped out in Samobor rather than waiting for a van.
