Petrinja is a town of roughly 19,950 residents on the Petrinjčica, a short drive upstream of the Kupa and of the county seat at Sisak, and its building stock is a great deal younger than its street plan. The earthquake of 29 December 2020 had its epicentre beside the town, and the years since have been a rolling construction programme rather than one repair: the Hrvatski dom reopened after a full restoration, the city library left the container it had used for almost five years and moved into the old First Elementary School building on Ivana Gundulića, and the Petrinja department of the Zagreb Faculty of Teacher Education returned to its own lecture rooms. For a display manufacturer none of that is background colour. It decides, address by address, whether there is a structure we are permitted to drill into this year, and it is the first question we ask.
The condition of the structure behind the screen
What may be anchored now, and what waits for the works to finish
A display of any size is a suspended load plus a cable route drilled through a wall. On a building that has been through structural repair, the anchors must land in elements the repair design accounts for, and the person able to confirm that is the engineer who signed off the works, not the panel maker. Where those drawings exist, we design the frame to them and note the fixing points on our own layout. Where a building is on a reconstruction list with the works scheduled but not begun, bolting a permanent frame to the render is simply the wrong order of operations: the screen comes down again the week the scaffold arrives. We would rather lose that item from the quotation than sell you a wall twice.
A finished dimension that comes out of the module
Thirty-two centimetres across the grid, sixteen up it
Each panel we build is mounted lying down: thirty-two centimetres from side to side, sixteen from top to bottom. A completed wall is therefore a whole number of modules in both directions, so its width divides by 32 and its height by 16. A surface of 4.48 by 2.40 metres is fourteen modules wide and fifteen tall and can be assembled; 4.50 by 2.40 metres cannot, however neatly it reads on a drawing. When an architect hands us an opening that lands between two grid steps, we usually absorb the difference in the surround, with a deeper reveal or a painted margin, and you see both variants dimensioned before anything is ordered.

A counter at two metres, a square at ten, a road at twenty-five
The distance at which people actually read the screen sets the pitch, and nothing else does. Someone standing at a service counter in one of the reopened institutions is two or three metres away and will notice ragged type, so we specify 1.5 to 2.5 millimetres between pixels there. A shop window read by a pedestrian crossing Trg dr. Franje Tuđmana is being seen from eight or ten metres, where 2.5 to 4 millimetres is exactly right and costs appreciably less per square metre. A screen aimed at passing traffic near the Gavrilović works is read from twenty-five metres or more, and 4 to 8 millimetres is the honest specification; paying for a finer grid there buys detail no driver can resolve.
Two builds, and the brightness that separates them
Sealed and forceful outside, deliberately restrained inside
A street-facing surface is sealed to IP65 and runs at 4,500 to 5,500 nit, which is what daylight over an open square demands, with an automatic dimming curve that pulls the output right down after dusk so the screen does not become a nuisance to the flats above it. An interior surface is a different machine altogether: it works at well under a thousand nit, because a screen set brighter than the room it stands in tires the eye within minutes and shortens the life of the components. Damp, winter frost and road salt argue for a fully gasketed enclosure outside, with a service hatch that can be opened wearing gloves.

The alternative to a mounted wall is an upright display on castors, and in Petrinja it is often the honest answer rather than the cheap one. The image area measures 640 by 1920 millimetres on a frame 201 centimetres tall, and the unit weighs 45 kilograms, which one person moves across a floor without help. Nothing is fixed to the building: no scaffolding, no access platform, no facade anchor, no statics report and no waiting for a reconstruction certificate. At 362 kilometres that changes the arithmetic sharply. A mounted installation here means a preparation day, an overnight stay and a two-day crew on site; a poster is delivered, unwrapped and switched on in the same week by your own staff. In a bank branch, a pharmacy or the foyer of a building only just handed back, it does the work the printed board and the roll-up were doing.

The road distance from our Győr workshop to Petrinja is 362 kilometres. A survey can be squeezed into one long day if we combine it with a second call in the county, and we will tell you when that is possible. An installation cannot: it needs a preparation day for access, unloading and the mounting structure, and a night's accommodation for the crew. Both the mileage and the subsistence appear as their own lines in the quotation for a cross-border job; they are never folded into the square-metre price of the wall, so you can see what the journey costs and what the screen costs. Every delivery includes reserve modules that stay with you, and the warranty runs for one or two years depending on the build you choose.
