This page is a working sequence rather than a brochure. It sets out the order in which the decisions about a fixed LED wall in Križevci should be taken, from the reading distance to the mounting to the signal, because taking them in the wrong order is what produces a screen that is the wrong size, the wrong pitch or in the wrong place. Križevci counts 18,949 people across the whole municipality and about 10,522 in the town proper, sits 57 kilometres from Zagreb, and has been a railway junction since 1870, when the line from Hungary reached the capital through Koprivnica and Križevci; the branch towards Bjelovar followed in 1894. Two things follow from that for a display supplier. The first is that a small town on a main line has more passing institutional and commercial activity than its headcount implies, from the Križevci College of Agriculture, founded in 1860 as the Royal Agriculture and Forestry College and still the oldest institution of its kind in the country, to the offices around Trg Josipa Jurja Strossmayera. The second is the drive: 279 kilometres from our workshop, which is among the shortest runs we make into Croatia.
Start from the sightline, not from the wall
Walk to where the reader stands and measure back
Before anything else, go to the spot where the person you care about will be standing and measure the distance from there to the intended surface. That number, not the size of the available wall, sets the pixel pitch. Three metres or less, which is a counter, a lecture-room front row or a lobby people walk past at arm's length, calls for 1.5 to 2.5 millimetres. Five to ten metres, which covers most halls and lecture theatres, is well served by 2.5 to 4. Twenty metres and beyond, which is anything read from the street or a forecourt, wants 4 to 8 millimetres, and the money not spent on a fine grid there is better put into the structure and the mounting.
Convert the drawing into modules before you price it
Multiply by 32 across and by 16 up, then see what fits
Take the size you have in mind and divide it. Our modules are always laid horizontally, 32 centimetres wide by 16 high, so a buildable surface is a whole number of them in each direction. Two metres and fifty-six centimetres across is eight modules; a metre and ninety-two high is twelve. A dimension that does not divide is not a wall we can assemble, and the point to discover that is now, not after an architect has issued a drawing. Decide indoor or outdoor at the first meeting
It reorders the whole specification, not just the price
An outdoor wall is a sealed IP65 assembly running 4,500 to 5,500 nit with an automatic curve that drops it right down after dark, built for driving rain, frost and years of temperature cycling. An indoor wall is unsealed, works at a small fraction of that output and is designed to be lived with in a room. Changing this decision halfway through means changing the panels, the housing, the power provision and often the mounting, so treat it as the first question rather than a detail to settle later. If a screen faces a covered but unheated space, tell us; that case sits between the two and we specify it deliberately.
Put the rolling poster on the shortlist before you commit to a fixed wall
A controller with Wi-Fi, a network socket and audio, built into the unit
Do not treat the upright poster as the budget version of a wall; it answers a different question. It stands on castors, needs nothing fixed to the building, no scaffolding, no access platform and no structural opinion, and it is set up by your own staff on the day it arrives. The part clients underestimate is the electronics: the controller is built into the unit and offers both Wi-Fi and a UTP network socket, so it can sit on a shop network or a wired institutional one without a separate media player, and it has an audio port, which means content with sound works without a second box and a second cable. For an entrance hall at the agricultural college, a hotel foyer or a bank branch on the main square, that self-contained quality is the whole point: one plug, one network credential, done.
Plan the signal path before you plan the cable route
Live input, scheduled playlist, or both
Decide how the picture will arrive and much of the installation follows on its own. A live source comes in over HDMI, which is what a lecture, a camera feed or a presentation needs and it implies a cable from wherever the laptop will be. A scheduled playlist lives on the controller and is refreshed over the network or from a stick, and because the controller is reachable over Wi-Fi, no data cable has to be pulled to the screen once power is at the position. Most clients use both: the routine loop runs unattended, and the HDMI input takes over when there is an event.
Book the survey and the installation as one journey
279 kilometres, and what stays with you afterwards
Križevci is 279 kilometres from the workshop by road, well inside the range where a visit is made and returned from in the same day. Use that: have the survey done alongside another call in the county, and expect the installation of an ordinary indoor wall to be a single crew day rather than a two-day operation with an overnight stay. On a cross-border job the mileage is quoted as a separate line and never absorbed into the square-metre price, so you can see it. Every delivery includes reserve modules that remain on your premises, and the warranty runs for one or two years according to the build.
