Koprivnica reads as a quiet county seat of some 28,580 residents, and then you notice what is inside it. Podravka has produced Vegeta here since the end of the 1950s, Belupo makes pharmaceuticals in the same town, and the Danica business zone brings in a working population every morning that leaves again in the afternoon. That mixture creates a demand for fixed screens which is unusual at this size: alongside the shopfronts around Zrinski trg and Florijanski trg there are reception halls, canteens, gatehouses and visitor routes inside industrial sites, all of them wanting a picture that stays exactly where it was put. Anything written about installed LED walls here has to address two buyers at once, the retailer with a single frontage and the plant with fifteen candidate positions.

A landscape brick that is never turned upright
Each wall we deliver is assembled from one panel type only, and that panel measures 32 centimetres on the horizontal by 16 centimetres on the vertical. It is not rotated, so the completed picture is always a whole number of panels across and a whole number of rows down. A width of 4.48 metres is fourteen panels; a height of 2.24 metres is fourteen rows. In practice this means the wall in a Danica zone reception is designed outwards from the plasterboard opening rather than downwards from a diagonal in a brochure. If a canteen wall offers 3.90 metres of clear span between two columns, the truthful picture width is 3.84 metres and the remaining six centimetres becomes trim. You get that number during the survey, not on the morning the crew arrives with the frame.

The counter decides it, not the far wall
Ask one question and the pitch answers itself: how close does anybody actually get? Somebody leaning on a reception desk, or reading a board above a canteen serving line, is inside two metres, and at that range only P1.5 through P2.5 stays smooth. Move the nearest reader back to five or ten metres, as in a training room or a showroom, and the sensible band widens to P2.5 through P4. Let the nearest reader stand across a staff car park or on the far side of the ring road and P4 through P8 is plenty, at a fraction of the cost per square metre. We ask for that one figure at the survey and write it into the specification, because it is the number owners forget to mention. A wall bought for its area rather than for its closest viewer produces the single complaint that cannot be answered afterwards: no content, no calibration and no change of mounting will reassemble a picture that has already dissolved into dots for the person standing in front of it.
Two builds for two environments

Two products, not two settings. The exterior build is sealed to IP65 and driven at 4,500 to 5,500 nits so that a frontage still reads when the afternoon sun is on it. The interior build is a 700 to 800 nit machine, and that ceiling is a comfort decision rather than a limitation, because a foyer screen at exterior output is unpleasant to stand near. On industrial sites the specification that goes wrong is seldom about light. What we get called back to correct is an interior unit that ended up somewhere with washdown, circulating forklift dust, or a door standing open to the yard for half of every shift. Seals go long before diodes do. Where the position sees water, dust or a real swing in temperature, we quote the exterior build even though rain will never touch it.
The rolling LED poster, a display with no installation
640 by 1920 millimetres of picture, standing on its own wheels
A poster is not a fitted product at all. Its picture area is 640 by 1920 millimetres, an upright format close in proportion to a printed A0 sheet but lit from within, and it stands on a wheeled foot of its own. You push it to where it is needed, plug it into an ordinary socket and it works. There is no scaffolding to hire, no access platform, no facade fixing and no structural opinion to commission, which also means no contractor waiting on another contractor. The same frame carries four builds, so the choice is about the room rather than the product: P1.5 GOB and P2 GOB where people stand right beside the surface, P2.5 for ordinary interiors, and a P2.5 outdoor cabinet version for a forecourt or an entrance canopy. For a shop on Zrinski trg, a Belupo reception hall or a hospital outpatient lobby, this is frequently the entire project. At 250 kilometres a poster can be delivered and switched on in the same week the order is confirmed, without a fitting crew ever being put in the diary.

There are two ways of feeding a wall and most customers end up using both. The controller takes an HDMI input for a live source: a laptop at a supplier day, a camera feed into a training room, a scoreboard output in a hall. Alternatively the controller holds a scheduled playlist which is refreshed over the building network, from a USB stick, or over Wi-Fi. The wireless route is worth knowing about before the builder's quotation arrives, because in the older buildings around Florijanski trg the expensive part of the job is threading a data cable through a protected shell. The display needs a mains supply at its position; the content itself can arrive through the air, and the schedule can be changed from an office on the other side of town.

A survey visit establishes the clear opening, the supply position, the sightlines and the access route for the panels. Fitting a wall of typical size is a day's work for two people once the electrical supply is in place, and the handover includes running the display through a real schedule with the person who will own it afterwards. Every shipment includes spare modules, because a module replacement is a task your own electrician can carry out with a short briefing and it removes the wait for a vehicle from Hungary. The warranty runs for one or two years depending on the build. Travel to a foreign site and the crew's subsistence appear as itemised lines in the quotation; at 250 kilometres there is no overnight stay to pay for, which is a genuine difference from the coastal quotations you may have seen.
