Illuminated channel lettering is a premium facade sign made up of bespoke-sized 3D letters with rear LED lighting built in. We manufacture it with a stainless steel or aluminium body, in a halo-lit (rear-illuminated) or front-lit finish, from a minimum letter height of 15 cm. It gives the highest-prestige presence on the facades of hotels, office buildings and premium shops, with a lead time of 14–21 working days. Halo-lit and front-lit illumination
What is the difference between halo-lit and front-lit channel letters?
In halo-lit form the LEDs sit on the back of the letter and throw light towards the wall, which creates a floating halo effect. In front-lit form the face of the letter is translucent acrylic and the light is thrown forwards. Both versions can be ordered, and the choice can be made purely on how each suits the facade in question. The halo-lit effect gives a particularly elegant, restrained appearance in the evening, while the front-lit build delivers maximum visibility from a greater distance, by day and by night alike.
Material choice and surface finish
What materials can channel letters be made from?
Stainless steel (brushed or mirror-polished), aluminium (anodised or painted to a RAL code) and galvanised steel are all available. The depth of the letter can be chosen between 6 and 20 cm, which also affects the effect against the wall. Any RAL colour can be ordered for a painted finish. Stainless steel is particularly recommended near the coast or in an industrial environment, where corrosion resistance is a key long-term consideration.
Quality that has to prove itself on the facade for years
Channel lettering cannot easily be replaced, so long-term reliability is the primary consideration here: we fit only quality, IP65-rated LED strips with a UV-resistant silicone coating, so that sun, rain and frost do not degrade the brightness or the colour fidelity for years. The weld seams and the machining of the metal surface pass a manual quality inspection before a letter leaves the workshop. In the event of a fault the LED strip can be replaced segment by segment without taking the whole letter off the wall, which significantly reduces both the time and the cost of a repair.
Running the sign and energy consumption
The consumption of channel letters depends on letter size and illumination type, but it is typically low: a sign with a letter height of 30–40 cm draws around 3–8 W per letter, so even a full company name adds only a modest monthly energy cost when run overnight. Control can be automated with a simple time switch or a photocell, so the sign does not have to be switched on and off by hand every day — it lights up by itself at dusk and goes dark at dawn.

What is the minimum letter height that channel letters can be made in?
The minimum letter height we can manufacture is 15 cm, which is readable from roughly 5–8 metres once wall-mounted. Typical facade applications use a letter height of 25–50 cm, which gives a viewing distance of 20–30 metres.
How are channel letters fixed to the wall?
The letters are fixed on steel studs into holes drilled in the wall, marked out on the back plate of each letter. Korád-Trade supplies a detailed fitting drawing with every letter, and will also undertake the installation on request.
What is the warranty, and what happens if a LED fails inside a letter?
We give a manufacturer's warranty on the LED strips and the power supply, and because replacement is possible at segment level, only the affected LED section has to be swapped in the event of a fault — the whole letter does not have to come off the wall.
Is any official consent needed to put up channel lettering?
For a facade-mounted company sign, a planning notification or consent from the local authority is usually required. We help with that process too, so that manufacturing and installation are not held up by it.
Will outdoor steel channel letters cope with the weather?
Yes — the IP65-rated LEDs and the stainless or galvanised steel body run stably for years from -30°C to +65°C, in rain, in snow and under UV exposure.
