We build fixed LED walls in Győr and install them on site. The road distance to Šempeter pri Gorici is 512 kilometres - the longest journey in our Slovenian work - which means a mounted wall is a planned two-day visit with an overnight stay, and it means the alternatives to a mounted wall deserve a serious hearing. This page takes the technical decisions in the order we take them with a customer, and treats the border as an engineering fact rather than a marketing line.
LED wall in Šempeter — manufacturing, installation, quote
Šempeter pri Gorici was a suburb of Gorizia until 1947, and then a border ran between them. The municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba covers only 15.0 square kilometres and counted 6 292 residents in 2021, yet the audience standing in front of a screen here is nothing like that figure: the Splošna bolnišnica dr. Franca Derganca on Ulica padlih borcev draws patients and visitors from the whole Goriška region, the crossing at Vrtojba brings vehicles in from the Italian side all day, and since May 2011 it has belonged, together with Nova Gorica and Gorizia, to a joint cross-border metropolitan zone with a shared administrative board. A permanent display specified for the resident count would be specified for the wrong audience.
Draw the wall on the 32-centimetre grid before you price it
A landscape module, always
Each panel is 32 centimetres wide and 16 centimetres high, fitted the same way up every time, so the finished surface is a whole number of those steps in each direction. A screen for a hospital entrance hall or for the exhibition rooms at Coroninijev dvorec is therefore drawn as a module count - say ten by six, giving 320 by 96 centimetres - and only afterwards compared against the space. Give us the clear opening in millimetres and we will show the nearest grid sizes on either side of it and how the frame takes up the difference. Settling this on a drawing costs an exchange of emails; settling it in a corridor 512 kilometres from home costs a working day of two fitters.
Set the pitch from the nearest reader, not the far kerb
Three bands and where each belongs
Choose the pitch for the person who stands closest, habitually. In a waiting area or a reception where somebody is a metre and a half from the surface, that is P1.5 to P2.5, and anything coarser will show its structure. A hall, a canteen or a showroom read from five to fifteen metres sits at P2.5 to P4. A surface read from a carriageway or across a forecourt belongs at P4 to P8. Going finer than the sightline requires simply multiplies the pixel count and the price. Going coarser is the mistake you cannot undo, and it announces itself on the first morning. We take a tape measure to the position and work from what it says.
Specify brightness for the position, not for the brochure
IP65 outside, a quiet panel inside
An exterior build is sealed to IP65 and driven at 4500 to 5500 nits, because it is competing with a bright sky over the valley. An interior build is made for a room and runs at a small fraction of that output, and putting an outdoor cabinet in a corridor is not a generous specification - in a hospital circulation space it is an actively unpleasant one. We therefore ask where the surface sits relative to glazing, which way it faces and at what hour the sun reaches it. A screen opposite a glazed entrance needs more output than the same screen four metres further in, and that difference is worth more than any argument about brand.
Count the poster before you count the scaffolding
One unit now, a video wall later
The rolling LED poster is a free-standing upright display on castors, and its controllers can be chained so that several units behave as one continuous image surface rather than as separate screens. The arrangement customers ask for most often is five panels side by side: 320 centimetres wide and 192 centimetres high, close to a 16:9 video wall, assembled by pushing five units together. That matters here because it removes the need to decide the final size on day one. Start with a single unit in the hospital entrance hall, in a bank branch or in a shop on Cesta Prekomorskih brigad, and add to it when the use proves itself. And at 512 kilometres the contrast is stark: a mounted wall means a survey, a preparation day and fitters staying overnight, while a poster is delivered, plugged into a socket by your own staff and working the same week - with no access equipment, no facade fixing and no structural opinion in between.
Plan for two languages on one screen
Scheduling, HDMI and the cost of bilingual content
In a town whose readers arrive from both sides of the crossing, the content decision is as technical as the hardware one. Two languages on one frame halves the type size and doubles the reading time; alternating frames, held long enough to be read and scheduled by hour, keeps both legible. A screen near the Vrtojba crossing can reasonably run one language in the morning peak and the other in the afternoon. All of that lives in the scheduled path, uploaded over the network or over Wi-Fi, which is why a data cable to the screen is usually unnecessary. Only a live source - a camera, a laptop, a queue system - needs HDMI and therefore a cable run planned while the wall is still open. Tell us which of the two you need before we build, because adding a live input afterwards is the one retrofit that genuinely hurts.
Budget the 512 kilometres as a separate line
What the offer shows and what we do not promise
A fitting visit here is travel and preparation on one day and installation and commissioning on the next, with accommodation for the crew. We do not pretend it can be done in a day, because it cannot, and a schedule that assumes otherwise fails on site rather than on paper. Transport and the fitters' subsistence appear as distinct entries on the offer, with the kilometres named, and are deliberately not absorbed into the price of the wall - you should be able to see what the distance costs and decide whether to change the scope or combine visits. Depending on specification the guarantee period is twelve or twenty-four months, and spare modules form part of the consignment rather than a later order. Regarding consents we say only what is accurate: rules govern facade fixings and displays visible from public roads, they are decided locally, and we furnish the technical annexes - drawings, fixing loads, electrical figures - that a submission requires.
