Metković sits in the Neretva valley near the Bosnian border, in a landscape of channels, citrus groves and one of the most important wetland bird reserves on the Adriatic coast. The Roman town of Narona lies close by, with an archaeological museum built directly over the excavated forum. Local events reflect that mixture: agricultural and fruit-growing occasions built around the mandarin harvest, cultural programmes tied to the wetlands and the archaeology, sporting fixtures, and the municipal calendar of a valley town. Business gatherings come from food processing, agriculture and transport. What all of them share is modest scale and venues that were never designed for technical production. One panel for a single day in Metković comes to about 895 EUR net, of which 820 EUR is the road. Split and Dubrovnik both have rental companies far closer than we are, and for a one-evening job with one screen either will be substantially cheaper. We would only expect to be the right call in three circumstances: a hire running across a week, where the two journeys divide across all of it; a large set, where the panel rate takes most of the total; or a Neretva company holding its event in Hungary, at which point the figure on this page becomes irrelevant.
How a delivery this far is organised
Travelling ahead, and agreeing access first
The route runs the length of Hungary and Croatia, roughly nine hours each way, entirely inside Schengen and entirely in euro territory, so neither customs nor currency enters the planning. What does is the schedule. At this distance the crew travels the day before, builds in the morning and loads out after the programme, so the delivery window has to be settled with the venue when we quote rather than afterwards. Panels are carried in by two people, which makes a valley venue reached down a narrow lane workable where a truss system would not be.

1,640 kilometres of return route
The driving is 820 EUR net on a one-day booking, from 1,640 return kilometres at fifty cents each. Screen hire is then 75 EUR net for each panel on each day at the indoor P2 list rate; a job that needs another build keeps this driving figure and takes an agreed panel price in place of the published one. Guide totals, net of tax: three panels for one day 1,045 EUR, five panels for one day 1,195 EUR. Three panels across two days reach 2,090 EUR, the journey counting twice. Five panels over three days come to 2,765 EUR and over five days to 3,515 EUR, at which point transport is under half the bill and falling with every additional day.

Each unit is 64 centimetres wide, 192 high and shows 320 by 960 pixels at a 2 millimetre pitch in the indoor P2, tighter on the P1.5 and wider on the P2.5. All three stand unaided, need no truss or suspension of any kind, and draw power from an ordinary wall socket. The outdoor pair, sealed into cabinets at P2.5 and P3, is the half of the range for a mandarin harvest event on open ground or a sports fixture with nothing overhead. That specification is what makes a job at this distance practical rather than heroic. There is no flight case that needs a loading bay, no structure to erect and no rigging drawing to negotiate. Two people carry a panel from the van to the room. We build the set, tune the picture, brief your staff and return at the end of the hire to remove it.
