Karlovac was laid out in the sixteenth century as a six-pointed star fortress, and the Zvijezda still gives the centre its unmistakable shape. The city is known for its four rivers, for the brewery that carries its name, and more recently for Aquatika, the freshwater aquarium that has become its main visitor attraction. Its position on the road and rail corridor between Zagreb and the coast keeps a steady flow of logistics and manufacturing business in the area, and the events that come with it are largely corporate: dealer days, plant anniversaries, training weeks and regional meetings held in company premises and hotel function rooms. Public life gathers around the rivers in summer and the sports hall in winter. Karlovac is 365 road kilometres from our depot in Győr, roughly four hours, entirely inside Schengen and the eurozone.

The straight answer first. A single panel for one Karlovac day comes to 440 EUR net, and 365 EUR of that is the drive. Zagreb is an hour away and full of rental companies, so for a small single-day booking they will beat us on price. The cases that favour Győr are longer hires, where the two journeys divide across every day; larger sets, where the panel rate dominates; and events held in Hungary, which for a company on this corridor is a routine occurrence. If your programme has dates on both sides of the border, one supplier covering both is usually simpler as well as cheaper.

We bring the panels with their feet, the player and the controller, stand the set up, connect it, set the picture and hand it to your staff. At the end of the hire we come back, take it down and remove it. Neither the build nor the briefing is charged. Which version travels depends on two answers you give us: how close the nearest viewer stands, and whether anything is above the screen. Close and indoors means the P1.5; ordinary indoor distances the P2; a deep hall the P2.5. Outdoors — a riverside stage, a plant yard, a dealer day held on the forecourt — means one of the two cabinet builds, the P2.5 or the P3, which are sealed and bright enough for daylight. Nothing is suspended and nothing is ballasted on the poster panels, so no venue approval and no drawings are involved. Two people move one, it fits a lift and a standard door, and it runs from an ordinary socket. In a brewery function room or a plant training hall those are the properties that decide whether a screen is possible at all.

730 kilometres of return driving
Two figures build the Karlovac quote. The van is billed on 730 kilometres of return route at half a euro net each, so 365 EUR net when the hire lasts a day, and the screen is 75 EUR net per panel per day. That daily rate is the published one for the indoor P2 we stock; a P1.5, a P2.5 or an outdoor cabinet is agreed separately, and no other line moves when it is. Net guide sums: 440 EUR for a single panel over one day, 515 EUR for a pair, 590 EUR for the square trio and 740 EUR for the full five. A second day doubles the journey, delivery and collection being distinct runs, which brings three panels to 1,180 EUR and five to 1,480 EUR. Add 63 EUR net a day per head if one of our people stays with the screen, and 88 EUR net once where the venue can offer neither parking nor a hand at load-in.

Five sizes from a single panel type
Width grows 64 centimetres at a time while the height stays at 192. One panel shows 320 by 960 pixels. Three make a 192 by 192 square at 960 by 960. Five reach 320 by 192 centimetres and 1600 by 960 pixels, which takes widescreen video without cropping. A dealer day in a company hall usually wants three, since the square set is deep enough to be seen down the room without walling off a route. Training weeks tend to prefer four for the 4:3 slide shape. For a reception or an aquarium foyer display, one panel does the job on its own.
