Fixed LED walls are planned in a set order, and skipping a step is what produces a screen of the wrong size or the wrong pitch. Celje is a compact city of roughly 49 400 people with an unusually large catchment, because the fairground at Celjski sejem, the retail draw of Citycenter Celje and the sports facilities on Golovec pull visitors in from the whole Savinja valley. A permanent screen here is therefore not sized for the resident population but for the peaks: fair weeks, match days, the shopping season. Two positions are genuinely useful - the pedestrian core around Stanetova ulica, where people are on foot and near, and the approach roads, where they are in cars and far away.
Decide first whether anything has to be built in
The standing LED poster as the other route
At 338 kilometres a fitting crew is a manageable proposition, so in Celje the LED poster is rarely chosen to spare anyone a journey. It is chosen because a great many of the positions worth lighting up here are leased: a unit on Stanetova ulica, a concourse pitch inside Citycenter Celje, a hotel reception on the ring. A slim standing display on castors leaves the tenancy exactly as it found it, and it goes back on the van when the lease moves. All it asks of the position is a socket. The controller lives inside the frame and can be reached two ways - across the wireless network, or through a UTP lead where the building would rather have cable - and it carries an audio output as well, so a stand at Celjski sejem drives its sound from the same box.
Set the pixel pitch from the sightline
Start at the nearest viewer
Stand where your closest regular viewer will stand and measure back to the wall. Under three metres, specify P1.5 to P2.5. Between roughly three and ten metres - a shop floor, a foyer at Citycenter Celje, a sports hall concourse - P2.5 to P4 is the working band. Beyond that, and certainly for anything read from a road, P4 to P8 is correct and costs considerably less. Write the distance down. It is the number that justifies the price of the wall to whoever signs the order.
Decide the brightness class by exposure
Sealed and bright, or quiet and indoor
If the screen faces the weather, specify the IP65 build at 4500 to 5500 nits. If it lives inside, 700 to 800 nits is right, and anything more will be turned down within a week of handover. Check the position at the worst hour rather than at the convenient one. A south-facing entrance hall at midday, or a frontage near Krekov trg with low winter sun on it, is where this decision is actually made.
Plan the signal route and the power feed
What has to be pulled and what does not
Decide now whether the wall shows a live source or a stored schedule. A live picture arrives on HDMI from a player or a computer; a schedule is loaded over the network or from a USB stick and repeats on its own. The controller can be reached over Wi-Fi, so plan a power supply to the wall but do not assume a data cable has to follow it. In a building below Celje Castle, or anywhere with finished surfaces you would rather not open, that single point saves the most disruption.
Book the survey and the installation window

Arrange the survey before the order rather than after it: access, lifting equipment, the supply point and the working hours permitted at the address all come out of that visit. Agree the warranty and keep the spares on site
After handover
Choose the one-year or the two-year warranty when you place the order, and store the reserve modules that arrive with the shipment somewhere the maintenance staff can find them. A single dark tile then becomes a ten-minute job rather than a service request. If the screen goes on a building exterior, allow time for the Slovenian permit procedure. We do not run it and we promise nothing about its result; we supply the drawings, weights, fixing details, power figures and luminance data that go into the file.
