Programmable LED text boards for Rijeka: single or full colour, window or facade mounted, updated over Wi-Fi. Below are the practical steps of choosing, sizing, installing and running one, in the order in which they come up during a real project.

LED scrolling sign in Rijeka — manufacturing, installation, quote

On a pedestrian street a moving line of text has a peculiar advantage: people are already walking slowly and looking sideways. The Korzo is built for exactly that pace, and a modest text board there is read many times a day without anyone deliberately stopping. Elsewhere in the city the same device does harder work, whether outside the port offices on the Delta where shift and gate information changes, near Rujevica on a match evening, at the entrances of Tower Center Rijeka, or on a road frontage where it has three seconds in which to deliver a price.

Decide what the board really has to say

One idea at a time

Start from the message, not the hardware. A board works when it carries something that changes: opening hours, a daily price, a duty rota, a queue number, a match-day notice. It fails when it is loaded with a paragraph nobody finishes reading. Two or three short lines in rotation, each readable in a couple of seconds, outperform a long scrolling text every time, and that decision also determines how wide the unit needs to be.

Size the characters for the width of the pavement

Distance, height and the module grid

Allow roughly three to four metres of comfortable reading distance for every centimetre of character height. Across the Korzo that suggests letters of around 5 to 8 centimetres, while a road frontage read from thirty metres needs 15 to 20. Because our modules are 16 centimetres tall and 32 wide, the height of a board moves in 16 centimetre steps and its length in 32, so the choice between a single line and two lines is made at the very beginning of the design.

Connect the board and test the schedule before relying on it

Wi-Fi, network, USB

The controller accepts content over Wi-Fi from a phone or a laptop, from the local network, or from a USB stick where there is no wireless coverage. Wireless access is what makes an upper-floor or courtyard position practical, since no data cable has to be run. Set up a week of scheduled messages during the handover and watch them change: a board whose schedule was never tested is the one still showing last month's opening hours in January.

Protect the unit if it faces the port or the open bay

Salt, moisture and gusts

An externally mounted board on Molo Longo or anywhere facing the Kvarner bay is specified like an outdoor screen: IP65 sealing, brightness in the 4,500 to 5,500 nit range for daytime legibility, sealed glands, stainless fixings and a housing finish suited to chloride exposure. Wind acts on the whole face, so brackets in exposed positions are sized for gusts rather than for the board's modest weight. Behind glass none of this applies and the installation is both cheaper and faster.

Mount it where the sightline is genuinely clear

Obstacles, angles and neighbours

A board hidden behind a tree, a parked delivery van or a projecting neighbouring sign is money spent for nothing, so the position is chosen on site with somebody standing where the reader will stand. Perpendicular mounting doubles the readable angle on a pedestrian street but projects over the footway, and that projection is regulated. Near a busy sports venue such as Rujevica, mounting height matters more than size, because a crowd blocks anything at eye level.

Arrange delivery, installation and a real handover session

Half a day, and somebody trained

Small boards travel with our other deliveries towards the Kvarner coast, whether the address is on the Korzo or up on Trsat, which keeps the transport share reasonable over 471 kilometres. A window unit is fitted in an hour or two; an external one takes half a day once power reaches the position. Before the crew leaves, a member of your staff writes, schedules and publishes a message themselves rather than watching a demonstration, because that is the only reliable way to know the board will still be current next season. Reserve modules and a one or two year warranty come with it.
