A programmable text display is a strip of LED tiles with a controller that holds a message list. It is the cheapest item in our range and the easiest to live with, because once the list is written it runs by itself. With the city 283 kilometres away, a strip can be fitted during the same trip as any other work at the address, or shipped pre-configured to a local electrician.
LED scrolling sign in Maribor — manufacturing, installation, quote
Running text solves a small, repetitive problem, and Maribor has plenty of places where that problem lives: notice boards in the foyers of the University of Maribor, duty information at pharmacies along Slovenska ulica, waiting times at service desks inside Europark, ticket windows at the foot of Pohorje, and match-day notices around Ljudski vrt. In every one of them the message changes weekly, the reader is close by, and nobody wants to print a fresh poster.
How many characters fit on one line?
Rows, tiles and letter height
One tile gives 32 centimetres of running length and 16 of depth. A single-row strip of five tiles is 160 centimetres long with a character band 16 centimetres high; stacking two rows doubles that height and allows either taller letters or two independent lines. The character count depends on letter height and pitch together, so we work it out from a sample of your real text - the longest message you expect to display - rather than from an average.
What pitch does a text board need?
Legibility, not resolution
For a foyer board or a counter display read from two to three metres, P1.5 to P2.5 keeps the letterforms crisp. A strip above an entrance in a large hall, read from ten metres or more, is fine at P2.5 to P4. Boards intended for drivers need P4 to P8 and a much larger character height to match. Text punishes an over-coarse pitch far more visibly than video does, which is why we ask for the reading distance before quoting even the smallest board.
Where can a text display be mounted?
Sheltered or exposed
Behind glass in a foyer or a shop window the board is an indoor unit at 700 to 800 nits, quiet enough for an interior and perfectly legible through glazing. Fixed outdoors - on a post, a gate, a wall beside an entrance - it must be an IP65 unit at 4500 to 5500 nits, because a dim strip in daylight is unreadable at any distance. Choose a position with a power point nearby. On a small board the cabling is often the largest single item in the installation cost.
How is the message list programmed?
Writing and timing the items
Each item has text, a display order, a speed and optionally a start and end date, so a whole term of notices or a season of opening hours can be prepared at once. The list is transferred over the network, over Wi-Fi or from a USB stick, and no data cable has to reach the board. We write the first list together during handover and leave you with a short written procedure for the next one.
How quickly can we come out from Győr?
283 kilometres, one working day
The city is within same-day reach, so a fitting or a service call does not require an overnight stay. In practice, though, a single ticker rarely justifies a dedicated journey; it is normally installed alongside another job or delivered ready to be mounted by a local contractor. Where we do travel, the trip and the allowance appear as their own lines in the quotation for a foreign address.
What is included in the warranty?
Cover, spares and limits
The board carries a one-year or two-year warranty by agreement, and reserve tiles come with it. Keeping one in a drawer means an isolated fault can be corrected the same morning it appears. One limit is worth stating plainly. A text strip shows letters, numbers and simple symbols; it is not a screen for photographs or video. If images are part of the plan, a small display wall is the right product and we will say so.
