Over-specifying is a common mistake - if the viewer is going to be 6-8 metres away anyway, they will not see what the P4 premium bought, and it only raises the cost. For conference rooms, retail spaces and studio backdrops, where you work at close range with fine detail, P4 (or an even smaller pitch) is the right choice. For advertising walls, facades, event spaces and sports grounds, where the viewer is further away and impact is what matters, P5 offers the ideal balance of price and quality. The type of content and the typical viewing distance together decide the choice. I will not be able to operate it - really?
Many buyers worry that a finer-resolution P4 wall with many more pixels demands more complicated operation than a larger-pitch P5. In reality day-to-day operation - changing content, adjusting brightness, setting a schedule - is done with the same simple software or app regardless of pixel pitch. Is there anything between P4 and P5?
Yes. Products with P3.91, P4.81 or pitches specifically between P4 and P5 are available if neither standard value fits your location exactly. These often sit in a similar price band to the adjacent standard pitch, so an intermediate solution is not always worth chasing. An experienced designer will more often suggest choosing between the proven P4 and P5 and adjusting the viewing distance or the size to suit, because that also means simpler procurement and maintenance in the long term.

What does P4 cost to run compared with P5?
